M and B Enchanced (Suggestion)

ok, but i still think that it would also be good to have what i said. that is, all retextures and custom weapons etc. should be combined into one downloadable brf file. i actually dont know if thats possible, but it could be done using an installer or something. but this idea of combining the mentioned mods as a game patch to build off of is perfect. its what ive always wanted available because all of the small mods have one cool aspect, but everything else is the same as the original.

These are quite interesting, and yet unique peotry, you should start writing peotry of M and B for every of us more often from now on!

Just to get say, the farms, guild and craftsmans, and the weapons expansions into one or get them to be cross compatiable, eg you can run them all at the same time, at least, would be good

Dont forget about Arena mod as well! And I apology, sometime I lack of great knowledge of using an english vocubulary, so pardon me for that. How about this, "Mount and Blade: enhanced" and would that sound rather good?

So basically, what i can add to this is a map generator. Or rather a mod generator. Never play the same game twice ^^
 
a possibility is a person that cut/pastes the python source from multiple mods into the 'uber mod', like a project manager.

a lot of the code for arena/blacksmith/horse/capitalist mods doesn't conflict... if its done piecemeal and debugged slowly you can combine the mods.

or if you set up a format for new python source submissions so that new schemes weren't common, so similar activities could be applied without conflicting. you could have multiple quests, etc. that act without stepping on eachother.

doesn't need a bunch of people screwing with eachother's code, missions, or storys... just one or two people that know a enough python to work out the conflicts.

Well atleast some of the more professional modellers need to help people export models into the game.
 
If anything, the Knights and Merchants mod (mainly the idea of owning your own keep and farm and A REASON to catch slaves besides selling cheaply) and the arena mod, some aspect of those would probly be an update to the actual game anyways since its completly in the way of the game. besides that, yea whatever would be awesome
 
This is an utterly awesome idea. That would really make the game shine even more.

One possible problem is compatibility issues... the game is still pretty far from being finished, so that mod would likely need to be upgraded several times to keep it running with the latest game edition.

And many of the things the mod should have could still easily be incorporated in the game itself.

perhaps if the motivation exists, a step that can be done immediately without learning anything complicated is to develop about a hundred 'side quests'. the modder creates...

1) participants (formatted for module_troop.py)
2) complete dialog (formatted for module_dialog.py)
3) any related script/quests formatted for those files
4) any triggers

if it is done in a generic manner with more than three paths, they can be slapped in to the Enhanced M&B Mod for people to put into their mods... and played again and again throughout the game... like doing the merchant and governor missions.

possible subquests might be...

- rescue baron's daughter kidnapped by a bandit_hero... or maybe she eloped... or maybe she doesn't want to come back to daddy... or maybe she was sold on the slave market and has to be hunted down.

- merchant hires you to recover sensitive papers or damning letters from a target in another city... or a priceless unique artifact... might give you a chance to 'break in' to a building... a noble could request the same.

- pilgrim is met on map and requests escort, then player partyt finds himself pursued by a bunch of nasty characters... maybybe pilgim is a thief... or has something really valuable... or is really someone more important, like an emissary to a noble... or has turned over his life for a new path and his past is following him...

these things can be done up as short quests, three or four actions deep: meet party/troop, accept/decline mission, travel to/accomplish mission, return/get paid with adjustments to faction and exp.

keep in mind that if you guys start putting something together, your going to need to have the same format, so it doesn't tromp on eachtother's stuff. maw
 
I like this idea. It certainly would make M&B, which described as lightweight, into something more heavier.

As much as I like vanilla, the quality of the world can be substantially increased with a collective addition from our talented modders.

I agree, deeper and more complex quests will give more meaning to the game.  Though the orginal dev team will probably (and hopefully) be putting such quests and deeper plots to the game at the final releases.
