I finally found some time to hunker down and play version .806 for a few hours and I'm wondering if it is just me or has the moratorium against good loot been lifted. I started a character with the squire background and named him Saddam (the fighter, or the one who confronts or something like that) just for laughs and I'm having a blast because I can jump into a battle with manhunters versus Sea Raiders and come out with haubark armor at level six, Borcha is decked out pretty good too now, sometimes he even says that he has five or ten denars now! I use my same old strategy of sending the peasants into battlle whilst I flee when attacked by superior forces but I have also gone against the odds and killed eight steppe bandits single handedly, my point is that this is a nice balance between the really early versions where you could steal a million dollars in a month and the middle version when I was wandering alone like Quai Chen Kain because I was in poverty.

The question is, how long have you been here? 'Cause i remember people complaining about the loot being too plentiful in 0.632.

maybe he means the 0.800 version where you would get almost nothing and then the bughfixes where you would get rich by just killing river pirates.

Well, that would mean being here for more than 18 months?  I haven;t been here that long, but I have noticed that I seem to get more loot, even WITH sixy guys following me.

I have been getting ridiculous amounts of riverpirate loot but I got nothing off the last two parties of Khergits I killed. Or rather I got a bunch of rubbish stuff, no Khergit armour. Damnit I want to dress up Cale like a Varangian!

I don't recall loot being that much more in .632, although I believe it was toned down a little bit in .7xx.  The thing is, .700 basically deflated the economy and more or less divided income and prices by about 8.  Instead of winning 5k in a battle, you'd now win about 600, instead of 200 winnings in the arena, it was reduced to 30, instead of paying 50k for a piece of armor, it's now 7k, etc.  But proportionally, I think .632 loot is roughly equal to .806 loot.

As far as I remember, sea raiders have always left good items behind. Not just in the last few versions.

They seem to be leaving more of it though. I've also gotten some high quality items, which I can't remember ever getting.

That is a solid looking war axe Cale.

Heh, many a unfortunate saxon doubted it's lethalness at Hastings this year. As my uncle used to say, it's not the size it's how fast you can hammer it into someones head.

Double entendre...Giggity.

i've noticed the loot to be... somewhat random. however, it always seems to be more after multiparty engagments
