Loyalty and security drift

Could someone please explain to me how I can change these values? My city has a great prosperity (and rising), a governor of the right culture, with a fairly high Steward lvl. Security is high, loyalty is high, I complete settlement related quests the moment they pop up, I kill each and every single looter and bandit group that pops up. I have a garrison of about 100 and a militia of about 250. Food is maxed out with surplus getting produced every day. But STILL: My loyalty drift is now -5 and security drift is -3 and they are growing at an alarming rate. What the hell is wrong with my people? Brain cancer? Meningitis? I can literally see no reason for them to be so pissy, and I believe I have done all I can for them.

How do I decrease the "drift" debuffs?

you dont. its a way to balance out your effort, or in other cases to help build up loyalty and security when you first capture the town. when your settle has high loyalty and security, it "drifts" towards the negative end, when you have low loyalty and security, it drifts towards the positive end.

Oh, that kinda marked sense I guess. So if everything is going swell I can leave it be, and it will eventually stop decreasing?

Yep just forget about it, at 100 loyality/security you will receive the worst drift as the drift is trying to equalize the town down to 50. You can of course counter this by having governors/town projects that will help counter act it. Also goes in reverse, if you have below 50 the drift will be positive and try to bring you up to 50. It is completely out of your control and exists to ensure towns are not at 100 all the time like in the past. The drift will never be the cause of a rebellion.

oh, so it's just a number that simply pops up? i thought it is related to notables and what clan they support.

If you give the town food and have garrison for +security (not -) then it takes long time for the loyalty to drop too low. You should do relevant quest when you can, but it takes a long time to get below 20 loyalty, unless you're also having a security problem or food starvation or raided villages and such.
