Low Framerate when in Combat

I wasn't sure if this was supposed to go under support, since it's not about getting the game to run, the game ran fine for a long time.

First off I would like to say I love this game, it's really awesome and better than most games out there.

I was playing today, and after maybe a few hours I went into combat, and my framerate was off, instead of the usual 60-90 I was getting 10-20. It's playable, but barely.

This is curious because I have had framerate issues before, I used to play BF1942 before and I had framerate issues after a while of play, and the same with Half-Life 2. I realized the issue was my laptop overheating, and that automatically sets it into low-processor mode where my processor works at under 100mhz. I bought a laptop cooler, just one of those flimsy fan things that go under it, but I'm not impressed by it, I've yet to see it amaze me.

Now normally I would just consider it over at this point. But oddly enough, the framerate issue was limited to combat or city view, in the world map or start screen I was running fine, in fact in the start screen I had 130fps. And on top of that, my other programs were running fine, so it seemed clear my processor wasn't slowing down. And even more confusing, the lower left, where my processor is, wasn't hot at all, it was just warm. Even turning the game off for a while didn't help.

Do any of you know what may be going on?

interestingly enough I noticed this a few times yesterday.. but not at all today.

Mine problem was the same, at dusk I was in battle... and was running at 10-5 fps.... instead of the usually 100+.

Figured it was a glitch with battle at night....

Then it did it again in the town....

I managed to figure out (this is going to sound strange....)

For a fix, hit esc to goto the menu, alt-tab out to windows.... alt-tab back in.... and continue playing... fixed my framerate issues 100% of the time.

Dont ask me why you have to goto the menu or alt-tab out.... give it a try
