Love This Mod: Couple Suggestions

Sergeant Knight at Arms
Hey to all you folks who made this mod a reality: *applauds*  :D

This a real work of art!

First things that seem to be specific to Brytenwalda: 1) not sure why but sometimes the random weapon combinations in dueling, sparring, arena, and even tournament are = no weapon at all. If that is WAD, I question the logic there.

2) Sometimes AI spawns with a two-handed axe on horseback and so they ride around punching until their horse gets killed.

I may remember a couple of other things I noticed and come back and post them later.

All the best!

have you donwload mod in sunday? you need install this small patch: http://www.4shared.com/file/cwUlUXqv/Brytenwaldapatch.html

Axes + horse in torunament: fixed.

Next time, you have post Suggestions or bugs in their thread plz  :)

So I'm finding this mod to be quite challenging. Even on easiest settings. I think partly it is just sort of disorienting all the new Factions and lord names, and place names.

Can someone suggest like the first three steps of their approach to getting off to a good start with this mod (including character creation; early game development/party building; becoming a "player").

I really like how the random bandits and such are quite bad ass in this mod, but having played it enough to get the general idea, I kind've want to get a bit further along without being taken prisoner and dragged around for several days.

Hmm, that patch caused a CTD error when loading the mod. Something about a town wall harbor icon?

Town wall harbor is add in 1.31 version. Have you delete something? Pacth should be copy and paste (overwrite) on Brytenwalda folder.

I reinstalled Brytenwalda from the installer app. Then I created a Brytenwalda patch folder. Then I extracted the Brytenwaldapatch archive into the Brytenwaldapatch folder. Then I copied the contents of the Brytenwalda patch folder and pasted them into the main Brytenwallda folder. It over wrote the "SceneObj" folder.

Now I get:

RGL Error: Load error: Invalid number of troops 1444

Yeah, the bandits and pirates are tough in the early stages, you have to use tactics and to some degree exploiting the AI.
Say you only have an army of maybe10/15 men all of low value but a few archers and you meet say 25 bandits, lead your men up and get them to hold a position (in range), put infantry just in front of archers, ride out ahead and have a few pokes at the bandits with whatever weapon you have, most or all of them will try to chase you as opposed to charging your troops who are now firing on them and getting hits as their backs are turned, keep riding around and let the bandits chase you and your archers will eventually kill a few, some will flee, when you've reduced the number enough get your infantry to charge. I did this a lot in the early stages with virtually no losses, be careful as horse armour is only 10 in most cases so a couple of prods and you're on your arse. The pirates and bandits also have some good loot in terms of good value armour and some decent freed prisoners. Once you have minimum money get to a tavern and hire some mercs, so long as it's not Equites or horsemen as you'll never afford the wages in the early stages.
Another key to early loot is Deer hunting, if you come across a herd (quite rare) kill them all and the meat is worth a fortune, sell it at a market, that way you can hire a small army of mercs straight off

1.31 isnt compatible with old savegames. You need begin 1.31 game, sorry

Learn how to shoot arrows backwards on a horse and learn also how to round up the badguys so they don't charge straight at your squishy units...

Getting their attention is annoying, you could shoot them with an arrow or dart (Javelin) but thats not always accurate or you could ride up next to them and swing your weapon at them and try to dodge them as they turn around swinging. Then after you got everyone's attention and there is little to no ranged weapons being shot at you, slow your horse down to a walk and turn it so that the bandits/stuff is chasing you, then proceed to shoot them in the head. If they have shields, you need to play games with them to make them lift their shield to attack...
