Lots of Lag During Gameplay

While playing SP, frequently the game becomes unresponsive, then fine for a bit, and the cycle continues. I've tried playing on lowest settings but the same issue persisted. I am having it hard to believe that it is hardware related, and just want confirmation on whether it is a bug or an occurring issue with other players.

My PC build:
OS: Win 7
CPU: AMD FX 8350 8 Core 4.0 GHz
MEM: PNY 8Gb DDR3
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Strix 4Gb

I am experiencing the same problem and I have the same graphics card so maybe it’s that.

Issue resolved. It was the OS. I updated from Win 7 to Win 10 and now I have no performance issues (so far) in game.

I have windows 10 and I still have this issue. apparently the game is a massive memory sink and it maxs out my RAM almost immediately.
