Lots of (Good?) Changes in the New Patch

for me teamwork shield fight is the core theme of mount and blade multiplayer experience, if i wanna **** around with 2h i will went for morde or whatever it call, their game from engine level is all about individual play while in warband team game, teamwork is something really op, a high level player without a shield will die to 2 mediocre player very fast, that is why i like warband so much.

As I understand it, devs wanted to make the skirmisher class unique. By diversifying their throwing weapons and taking away throwing weapons from other classes. And since the recruits are considered the empire's skirmishers, they received pilums. I generally like this approach, but legionnaires without pilum are sad...
I’m all for a dedicated skirmishes class as long as it doesn’t remove the opportunity to have non skirmished based medium infantry available.

I would love to see a perk given to the skirmisher classes which replaces their default throwing weapons with +10 armor. As long as every faction has the option for a unit that’s around 80 speed, 25 armor, a shield and a spear I’m a happy camper. See the medium infantry thread in my bio for details.
 
For me a game is in a good spot now. Nerfing (killing) archery made inf fights way more enjoyable. 2h feels great, just as it should be.
One problem is that cav bumps a little bit too much. I see people finally started using a spear in fights, sometimes even 2 spears and a 2hander that can usually rear the horse, and that kinda solves cav problem. Some factions, like sturgia, can't rear the horse with their 2hander, it makes them worse compared to others because you are always getting bumped.
Oneshotting crushd through sturgia hammer seems a little bit op cause there's usually no archer in the enemy team.
We just played khuzait-sturgia beast match and the only archer was there was one khan's guard, and we only took it as shock infantry thanks to his glaive, I didnt even shoot in fights.
Once again, nerf cav a bit, especially it's bumps, and game would be really enjoyable to play. There are changes that made cav so op this patch:
1. Oneshotting couches
2. Buffed bumps, they can bump you in like 1 sec after they start running
3. No archers
4. Weak throwables
5. No throwables on heavy inf
6. Improved handling. They are manually dodging your spear almost every time, they couldn't do that before

Knockdowns got nerfed so the increase of bumps is fine, its still requiring good timing and positioning to bumpstab or even slash someone paying attention.

Yeah maybe, but globally cav now is just too good imo. So good, that teams are forced to use 2 spears simultaneously just to counter cav. And even against 2 spears cav is always has the most impact. And from my point of view I find myself lying on the ground and trying to get up a little bit too often.
Maybe I just got a bad day and the cav players were just way better than all the others, but it is as it is.

Also I fear something like 5 long menav spam meta, seems like there's nothing you could do against that. Maybe the short bows would be on spot.
 
Cav will always seem very good in low skill ceiling environments because the nature of the class in both Warband and Bannerlord makes it easier to punish disorganized and poor awareness players.

If you can't shoot, just wait for the Vlandia and Empire, there you can meme with the crossbow.
 
stun on of 2h weapon need to remove in next patch, for instance vlandian volge that was one of the best weapon in game, now it can give a continues stun lock on single hand weapon shield alike by spam it.

i dont know who think this is a good idea, but it's stupide even on paper.

and swing arc is still terrible, it's way to wide, make some very werid hit and break animation, many has been said on this subject for month.

btw why remove pilum out of legionary it's one of the trademark in the entire game... personally I even wanna muti-player pilum be added into single player...talk about features....

Many improvements from what I saw yesterday. Infantry has to actually fight in melee now which is great, archery got slapped abit so we gotta adapt to that, mostly just feels worse to play it, the accuracy and damage is still pretty good, and cavalry got couch lances back, maybe abit too much damage still but might be ok.
Biggest issues for me right now is
The massive difference in movement speed between classes (although removing crushthrough for most weapons helped alot)
Kick hitboxes are still wild and needs looking into
Crossbow seems insane, I wouldnt make the reload time much longer though as that just becomes frustrating for the player.

Maybe they are implementing new features related with movement speeds. We should wait & see the next.

Mabbeh, right now its annoying because catching up to some players is frustrating, depending on your class vs them. Need to do more testing but I think 2 handers can still dip in and out of any fight without ever comitting to a fight, which I think is a problem.

They now have the half as fast fire rate as it was before. It is not a matter of habit, they now just have only half of the impact they had before. On top of that you are always losing your time window for a good shot because in that 3s draw everything can happen. Cav can easily catch you on 'reload'. After the cav comes and you have to swap your weapon to melee, after swapping back you have like 3-4s delay before you can shoot again. That all made archery pretty much useless in fights. They are still good before the fight starts, on long distance shooting, but the most impact archer deals is during a close fight, where cav shows itself and inf is not aware of you. Now I think you can choose any peasant over archer just because it will have more fighting impact. Once again, maybe short bows will be good in a close combat archery.
I guess it is all good cause no one likes archers, but I see a problem in cav being too good right now.
 
I’m ok with classes being faster than the heavily armored, defensive class I’m using as long as I can properly block their attacks.

The issue with crushthrough and the jav spam meta was you HAD to be the aggressor, even if you were playing a slower, point hold oriented class, in order to stand a chance. That seems fixed now and the heavy troops are more able to fill their niche without being cheesed.
 
The new patch is great, loving pretty much all of the changes. I've found menavlions have a real easy time getting past shields with the shield block changes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing on it's own, but with the state they're in at the moment just makes them even more OP especially in packs. The removal of crush-through from them is nice however.
 
Yeah Menavalions in packs, in Captain Mode is the way it should work!
Also don't forget to just tell them all to charge at the start of a round.

Many of these changes are great, but currently Captain mode is broken. The new command system is confusing for everyone who has been playing BL for months and unnecessarily complicated (and was simply unnecessary). The shield wall function is ridiculously slow now -- some penalty to speed is warranted, but this is serious overkill and ruins the pace of the game (and is bugged so that you still slow walk after stopping shield wall). And the slow walking bug has randomly effected other units as well that don't even have shields and weren't in shield wall. And, of course, the repeated crashes...

These are consistent topics in the in-game chat. I hope these issues are addressed quickly before the MP community completely dissipates. :sad:
 
Agree with my dog here.

So what happened to me today i was playing legionary with sword and shield , i pushed a crossbow who had reloaded xbow with bolt inside it , i pushed the crossbow so he cant aim i swing once and i hit him and i instantly go for another swing but he managed to shoot faster than i could swing at him altough he was strucked a mili second ago.

This must be adreesed as soon as possible as this is outragous.

1. Oneshotting couches
You know couch lances usually pierce through your body and usually go in from one side and get out from the other because of high momentum, right? That is how couch lances work, they are supposed to one shot you, imagine you having a big hole in your chest and still fighting. Before this update they were so bad they couldn't one shot even a 3 armor arbalest from behind sometimes and they would occasionally just bounce off. Couch lances are risk-award type of thingy, you let your guard down and can't block any missiles from front and left, such an easy target for archers and throwables and because cav is not stabbing with the lance, it has a reach disadvantage against long spears, ones that heavy infantry has, it's super easy to stop an incoming couch lance with long spear, that's why couch lance is only effective against archers and maybe other cavs to dismount them.
There is a mechanic called bump-couch and it is effective true, but it's only effective against again archers and infantry without spears that fail to dodge.
Couch lances are good now no need to nerf or anything, bumps on the other hand I agree they need a slight nerf and maybe team bump as well.
