This is a Roman 146BC Era mod, more of myself, please read here, i'm a modeler for 3 years, and been in BF1942 and BFV modding community for almost 2 years, this is my first ever try as a leader, i hope i'll do a great job, and i would like to thank Eagle114th for started this mod with me.
Story

It's 146 BC , Brutus, Julius, And Scipii families are expanding the soil of Italy, Julius invading north up to briton, scipii invading Carthage area. This mod is about when The family of Brutus lead army south to the lands of Greek, but two of their Birme ships, was lost in a storm, and had washed to the shore near Thermon, quickly, the surviving Roman army gathers up and built a camp, but Greeks from all cities are marching their army toward the camp, and decided to burn it down, For brutus, it's up to you to defend him.......

A quick couple of words... I just wanted to say that this MOD definately has a lot of potential and if a few of the many talented modders in here could all give up some time to work on a project like this then it will be greatly appreciated by the community in here, I'm sure.

Seeing roman soldiers throwing pilums and pulling out gladius' would be great and seems easy to implement once we can import custom models. Even being a merc and joining a large battle between a roman legion and a barbarian war band to help whatever side you are allied with. This will be great and I hope a lot of people consider helping in some way.

How bout "Lost Legionnaire"?

Story, we're focusing on the Roman war, and we're probobly having Rome, Briton, and greek, maybe other minor factions later.

now i'm preparing a basic site for the mod. After the site design i'mma get in programming. I just want two guys with us;
n00854180t and Effidian. I sense Effidian knows how to program. Maybe he can help me or i can help him :wink: . And n00854180t is a great idea father (I don't know it is true but in turkish it means a great thinker). So guys (Effidian and n00854180t) can you join us and make this mod the greatest one that m&b has ever seen.
 
I had hoped for such a Mod ever since I came here from the totalwar.org forums.
Though I have no capability in 3D or skinning, I am accustomed to text file modding and I work as professional programmer.
I also study historical life and warfare as a hobby, and possess most of the osprey books and many other publications concerning these topics.

I have not yet tried modding M&B but I am willing to give it a try.

As the engine can not simulate the calssic large scale warfare of roman legions I would suggest small scale scenarious.
Going with the "Lost Legionaire" theme, the Aftermath of the Varus battle comes to mind.
But first you will have to decide in what timeperiod you are going to set your story (or if you will be completely fictional), as Leginaires with a square scutum and greek hoplites are not from the same century.
 
Lets, say, err maybe the Time when Roman is conquering the mediteranean sea? we'll focus on their battle against Greek, and hopefully, the macedonians too
 
If that's the case, you need to redo the scutum. The shields in those times were pretty much oval. You'll also need to abandon the standard legionnaire equipment and make individual gear for a velite (Light skirmisher), a hastatus (Medium sword-armed infantry), a principe (Heavier sword-armed infantry) and a triarius (Heavy spear-armed infantry), the standard units of the Republican army.

Also, I don't see any sense in making the Britons, the barbarian tribes immediately surrounding the Romans were mostly Gauls.
 
ok, new idea, well, you see, the romans already smash the gauls when they eneter briton, and the new idea is to only have Greek and Rome

I know that, but they'd also dealt with the Greeks by that time. ;)

I think that's the smartest road to take, that way you can replace the Vaegirs and Swadians with Romans and Greeks. You don't need to go down the total realism road, but be sure to model a proper Republican army for the Romans, I don't want to see any latter-day legionnaires in there. You might want to get yourselves a historic advisor or something, Rome was a Republic when it went to war against the Greeks. Hence, no emperor. Also, during the period of Rome vs. Greece, there was no real Roman cavalry to speak of, and the Greeks (Being the fathers of all Western civilization) were hardly barbarians. ;)

You might want to make some marauding barbarian hordes, though. They'd bring a little flavour, whether you decide to make them joinable or not.

Also, how come Effidian and n00854180t are listed in the creators, since there hasn't been a peep out of them yet?

Well, yes, he was asking them to join, but they haven't actually said whether they would or not. Obviously I hope they'll hop aboard as well, but you might want to wait for them to announce it. :S
 
seems like a great mod, will there be companions?
