Lost companion - Help

Well, I went to Rivacheg after a long campaign in the sarranid territory to claim it back for the nords (Vaegirs got wiped off the map) with 90 unwounded Huscarls with me and about 50 veteran archers, and my 7 level 15+ companions. The khergits had about 300 guys, but, well, they were khergits. I decided to go in. I got hit with a lancecouch and died almost immediately. I had to click "order your soldiers to attack without you" for the next three times. Lost all my huscarls. All my companions. Everyone. So i'm stuck in the jail of rivacheg for a bit, then they let me out with a small fee. I go to curaw, which we own, and find a traveler that knows where my companions are. Most are in the prison at khudan. I decided to go there, to see if i could sneak em out. I garrisoned my troops I had picked up on the way at slezek castle or w/e, and went over there. Successfully sneaked in, found the prison tower. I said gimme the keys to the guard, and he yelled for help. As soon as I bring down my staff, 3 arrows land square in my back. He then pulles out his sword and starts attacking. Also, the khergit lancer behind me comes out too, and they kill me. I get caught. I get out. I repeat. Deciding that its not worthit, I start making my way back to slezek, when a taiga bandit group of about 135 get me. I only have myself and 2 companions there, so I try to fight, not having much denars in my pocket because half of my breweries are owned by khergit towns. They take me prisoner, take my tempered soldier's cleaver, and leave me at jelkala half broke. I look around for years for a new soldier's cleaver. Can't find one. I decide to go back to kingdom of nords and pick up my garrison. Halfway there, khergits declare peace. I think, ooh,  now i can get my companions back. So I go to khudan, no companions in the tavern OR jail. I ask travelers and they say my companions dont exist anymore.

It'll just take the game time to re-spawn your missing companions.  Just have to wait (up to a few months is possible) for everyone to respawn.

When you earlier went to the Traveler and found out your companions were in Prison, he should have had a default conversation topic about 'Ransoming a Companion'?  I've yet to have to use that conversation, but isn't your case exactly for what it's there for?

Same thing happened to me in my last game, I was able to find some of them through my Lords, usually hanging out in a random tavern; and a few just magically reappeared over time, talking about how they went looking for me. They get released from captivity after the captors declare peace with your faction, then they just sort of wander off until you run into them, or they you.
