lossless disband/uncapture

Recruit
a disband at world map could create a new party AND/OR send units to the nearest friendly town

a disband at town could put units at tavern

an uncapture at world map could create a new party that would try to reach another appropriate party and join forces

there could have a jail in town to uncapture there also

I like it, and it shouldn't be too hard to code since it is already in the game for heros. But instead of a prison you should send unwanted prisoners to the gallows

Very nice idea...

I've always found it odd that when you rescue prisoners and they go free that they wander round the dangerous world in 2's and 3's just waiting to be recaptured rather than joining forces with similar groups...

If you do want to create a bunch of seperate parties, one current trick is when you defeat a enemy party and you go to the slave trade screen, put all your units in the rescued prisoners slot. You'll now have a bunch of hardened rescued prisoners roaming the map.

um... lets say bandits could have a family... so youre being nice and letting those poor kids have a father...

If you rescued Veagirs or Swadians and didn't take them with you shoudn't they report back to there unit or something insted of just wondering the map.

I think those spare parties should head for the nearest town and disappear. Then they could show up in the tavern as recruitable units. That would save you the trouble of having to empty enough slots in your party to absorb an entire rescued prisoner party just so you can get those few horsemen you wanted -- just follow them to town, and pick them up from the tavern.

I agree on that, also those are the not killed/just wounded bandit units.

You could choose to slay them or just set them free on an attempt to make them recruitable.
I mean after setting them free, the bandit party would spread on recruitable and bandit party based on your leadership and on pure lucky dice.

So you could reach the recruitable group (work the same way as 'rescued sea raider' that I once got [a bug?], wow that only one unit lasted a huge lot ) and let them join.

About the group that kept loyalty to bandits, each unit would be marked as never recruitable by us .

I agree. There definately needs to be an option to kill captives, but it should severely damage your reputation if you did it to vaegir or swadian units. I doesn't make much sense not to do it to pirates or bandits. And rescued prisoners ought to head directly for the nearest friendly town, and perhaps join up with friendly armies if they run into them on the way.

sorry to bug in!!
i really don't know if this ideea was posted before but it is what first came to my mind while playing the game!! here it goes:
we should be able to buy prisoners from the slave traders!!
it shouldn't be too hard to write the code for that! i mean at the begining i encountered the black nights and was defeated and left alone. i wanted to be able to recuperate some of the soldiers i lost; also it would be nice to be able to find some lost swadian or vaergian knight there and buy him at some price.

sorry again cause i really don't know weather this suggestion belongs in this thread or not

I could imagine to create your own prisoner trains with an NPCs and some assigned troops as you wish. Depending on the Prisoner Management skill of the assigned NPC you can have more or less types and numbers of prisoners.
Depending of your allied side they would head for the respective capitol (or Zendar if neutral). There you could pick them up in the Palace (or prison in future  )

I have a little suggestion about slave trading as well. As far as ive seen noone suggested it but its too small to make a new topic so here i go:
Why are all slaves going for 100 gold?
Swadian peasant would be a bad slave proabably, not very strong/tough etc.
A raider or bandit would make at least a decent slave since they fight alot and use armors and all.
And soldiers.. They'd make better slaves. They use heavy armors and weaponry, they get into fights... They are used to someone being hard on themselves.

So while peasants may go for 50 gold, a raider may go for 100 while a footman 150.. etc.

This may also help slaving going meaningless after some point in game since you earn much more than mere 100golds

Good suggestion, which as far as I know, hasn't been come up with yet.

There have been several threads on that. And I think your logic is a little flawed. Slaves would be used for farming and rowing boats (at least in Caldria), so peasants would be quite suited to the task. The soldiers and raiders are used to rough treatment and heavy work, but not the kind a slave does. And most people want to reduce monetary gain, not increase it.

Well i was thinking of hard work, carrying stuff maybe.

Actually i dont know what i really thought but you know i just thought a strong person would do better. But you are right. But then, the peasanst would have a higher price or so..

(btw, i think i need lessons on using search. I typed "slave price" but couldnt find.)

Here's what I've learned in my 4 times using it:
  • Check stickies before searching.
  • Always use quotes. This system is very screwy, and doesn't work properly without quotes.
  • Click the second radio button no matter what the search is.
  • Never use the 'which forum' list. Things are often in the wrong forums, or you think of it in a different way which makes it a different forum.
  • Never use the catagory list either.
  • Change the 'return first x letters' thing to 400 or something. 200 is too little.

If all you want your slaves for is rowing or mining salt... wouldn't you prefer to have a river bandit rather than a trained soldier doing it for you? After all, a band of elite soldiers would be a heck of a lot more likely to rise up and kill you.
