Losing my weapon, just not fun gameplay

So, I'm new and I kinda suck, but when it comes to the point of spawning without a weapon. is it a bug or just a really punishing gameplay mechanic? because it's really really really annoying when it comes to that. it just ruins the game for new players.
I basically have to kill at least 1-2 opponents just keep my starting gear and since 90% of my deaths consists of lance to the back I don't get very far...

(on a sidenote please make it impossible to run around naked as it looks as ridicolous as it is.  )

Running around naked gives you a speed boost but you will die from 1 or 2 hits from any weapon. It's good fun.

You can get basic weapons for free. No reason to run around weaponless.

o rly? but how come I spawn without one then?
I'm gonna try and solve it by buying the standard (free?) weapon in an extra slot as a secondary weapon tonight and see if that can solve the problem for now :/

You can get basic weapons for free. No reason to run around weaponless.

Not quite. For example, there is no free lance for khergit archer. If you lack money, you spawn without any hand weapon at all. Imagine you are Nord, and take a shield, and three set of throwing axes. Again, no free equivalent. Result? You're spawning with shield only.

Some (not all) of the weapon branches have a free option, so if you choose an expensive shield and cant afford it after dying then it will choose the first one you can afford. Theres a free shield so in this case you would always have a shield. However the 2 handed weapons are generally not free so if your weapon is say a 2H sword and you have no money after dying then you will not spawn with that weapon.

If you choose only throwing weapons you might spawn without weapons at all. That could be changed,
but I've never tried spawning without a melee weapon if I had one to begin with.

I see, they should fix it so that you spawn with the free one handed weapon when you run out of cash. just to fix the annoyance

Just pick up a weapon from a fallen comrade/enemy! I went on a mighty fine rampage with a Rhodok Warhammer when I ran out of arrows yesterday .

is that really a solid solution? running around like an idiot searching for a weapon in the middle of a battle? does it sound like a fun game to you? and yes I've been doing that. it's ALOT harder on siege maps however. I ended up fighting a guy who had a 2handed axe with my fists. guess who won?

Poor players should really be given a knife or something, spawning without a weapon is too hardcore.

Again your new to beta, If you notice that there is always a Free shield, sword. Some factions give out free Lances and bows. Along with maces i think im not sure.

So on your first couple rounds get the free items until you steal some items and can afford more weapons

slightly irrelevant since the point is that the fact that you can spawn without weapons is almost gamebreaking (at least at sieges).
same as with the horses, you've become accostumed to it and have accepted it while I have after a week or so still find it slight problems that could/should be fixed to improve the overall gameplay. sometimes new eyes and a fresh approach is needed mate ^___^

I allways have a back up free sword or something

so running around weapon less never happens to me

but it would be great if you dont have any money it will give you your standart free eguipment

yes that's what I'm going to do from now on too. I just wish I wouldn't need to encumber my character for the sake of playability.

what? I'd still be one round without one and I don't want to back out (esc) everytime I die just in case I might lose my weapon. not really a good solution either right? I want to play and have a good time, not babywatch my Denars all the time.

Sometimes it doesn't. I consider it a bug.

It doesn't give you the free weapon if it's of a different branch than your current one. If you've chosen a 2h sword that you can't afford, it's not going to give you the free 1h sword. I think it should.

Yeah, it SHOULD.
