Lords and Fiefs // A few questions

Hi ho,

since it's apparently no longer possible to keep your lords in the "waitingline" for their first fief without a constant loss of relations I was wondering if these AI Lords will build improvements themselves, or is this handled like in the original Pendor? Normally I like to wait until I build everything myself and then give the fief away

Also I'd like to know how I can take away a fief from one of my own lords without branding him disloyal, or if this is even possible. These nice and clean takeaway options from the original pendor don't seem to exist anymore.

Finally my own lords don't have quests for me anymore. That was always a good way to boost relations after taking away their cities
Is this a bug or a feature?

Thanks in advance!

Continue with your usual MO of improving and garrisoning castles/towns and improving villages, (particularly with villages, try to get to where you can have a sheriff and militia ASAP).  It works the same way as in PoP for V 1.011.  If you wait to give it away until it is a properly improved fief, your lord gets more money and he gets better recruits.  If I'm not mistaken, the richer the fief, the better your boost in relations with the lord, too.

Wealth influences relation boost?
I had rather more the impression it mainly depended wether it was a village, castle or town?

Could be different on warband. Just abuse the fact that you can deal out the village BEFORE the governing location or you´ll lose quite a lot of free relation points as any unclaimed village will go away with the town/castle.

So hand out the villages before you give away the castle or town.

I am not 100% positive of this, but I seem in Warband to get better lord relations from handing over a prosperous, improved fief to a lord than an unimproved, poor one.

Your point is good about giving away villages prior to castles and towns, since the towns all have 2 villages attached to them, as MV changed that in the Warband version, noosers.  That was not the case in PoP 3 for V 1.011.

A pity. Too much equality. I guess I should have kept a closer eye on the discussion at the dev page to state my dislike about it.

It had made some sense to have huge towns with many suburbs in especially the more friendly places of Pendor and the royal ones having most of them at all because it made massing centers of power most easy.

But on the other hand I´m pretty sure that MV had some excellent reasons to do so and thereby greatly improve native WB´s economy cycles.

Merging PoP's and Warband's economies took MV a vast amount of time and drove him totally batty.  I think he had more trouble with that than with any other aspect of his coding/re-coding.  He had to test and retest countless times to get the economy where it is - now in the PoP 3, Warband game, faction-specific items are only in faction-specific markets, too.  The Sarranid items are now with the D'Shar.

One down, two to go.

Btw, how far will relations drop if you don't award your lords wiht fiefs?

Does this mean that the overall economy of the whole place will go down over time?  Since the lords raid each other's villages and they don't build improvement, the whole land should be poorer over time.

I hope this is the case because all the lords start out very strong with lots of elite unites.  I hope they become weaker over time.  In the latest version, it is impossible to go rogue right away.  I used to be able to go rogue without joining any faction.

It is still possible but it´s the hardest way and you need to play it smart.
Yes, villages get poorer over the time. You´ll notice that you only get flea ridden, pestilence stricken impoverished villages after some time.

But since you´re a nice guy you can improve those you keep and bring them wealth, cleaness and justice on your own.

Lords usually get stronger as long as they own any holding for the first few times they get defeated. After a certain point their army will become weaker in terms of quality and if they lose all their holdings their armies will become both smaller and inferior on quality.

Certain Lords, like Royals, will stay pretty strong for a long time. Others who haven´t got such a large portion of certain elite units in their party roster will become easier more quickly.

Just prepare carefully before you start molesting a faction if you decide to go the independent route to your first castle.

Did the city improvement requirement change from POP 2.5?  I try to build sheriff but but couldn't.  I thought I have met all the necessary stats requirement.

If the data changed, the new data is not in the new website.

For the "build sheriff" option to appear on your list you will probably have to complete some of the improvements ahead of it on the improvements list before the option shows up.
