The Mercenary

Grandmaster Knight
Right, well, Lord Samuel is replacing Sayyan on the team - Sayyan hasn't been active in a quarter year.

Oh, yeah? Merci pour cet honneur. *sound of hardened leather boots clicking*

By the way, a 'May 2009' version of the Siege & Scene Add-on was uploaded today. Link unchanged.

What does this May version actually do? Just to ask, since there's bound to be people asking.

Just a few more tweaks on the siege scenes (everytime I could identify a problem), and some redone scenes (now covering the Vaegirdom).

By that, what in particular?
Is it still 2 ladders/ 1 ladder + siege bridge at castle, 3 ladder at Town?

Yes.

A few AI paths have been tweaked, though. I'm trying to prevent the sometimes weird behaviours, especially among the attackers.
Also moved a few ladders when it was too hard for the men to climb them (which was resulting in huge traffic jams, & unnecessary arrow massacre ).
I've also added a second ladder in Tihr's first mini-line of walls.

I intend to go on with this, and I hope I can get some feedback about such problematic sieges.

Lass ihn doch wenn er unbedingt will

Do you know if it's possible that your troops use ladders in sieges with siege towers before the tower reaches the wall?

Nice stuff! I was looknig for an excuse to start a new game anyways. >.>

As Wellenbrecher put it, changes to the scenes are all 100% savegame compatible.

At this point, no. Attackers wait for the tower to reach the walls before moving. Maybe it's editable in the txt files, but I think it's actually hardcoded.

So the additional ladder in fact doesn't help anything, because siege tower are broad enough, once they reach the wall.

What I would appreciate is an optic reworking of the siege towers. Some of them look incredibly stupid, really.

The ladder is great for nipping up the wall and clobbering a few soldiers while your troops manhandle the tower into position. I usually go for one of the turrets with archers, then leap off if things get a bit dicey.
