Looking for Beta Testers for the official French translation

We certainly took our sweet time at this one, but we are at last about to release an official language pack for French players of Mount&Blade.

Before we can release it however, we'll need to test it exhaustively, so we figured it would be best to ask French speaking forum members help us test the new translation. If you are interested in giving us a hand at this, please send a PM to singil containing the text "I volunteer to test the French translation". All participants will be sent a download link for the French language pack as soon as it is ready (should be early July).

In order to avoid any possible confusion, let me note explicitly that this beta test is for the French translation of vanilla Mount&Blade, NOT the M&B Warband expansion.

Many many thanks in advance to all the beta testers.

I am sorry for posting this info in English, but unfortunately I can't speak French at all.  :sad:

Bad news for me ... I would be so happy to be a beta tester of the french language pack but unfortunately I work July and August in a no man's land in the deep France ... not sure we have electricity  :mrgreen:

good luck for your tests, happy you made this official pack, later is better than never, and hope to be a tester on the Warband expansion.

Isn't it a little late, now that the M&B basic Native is fully translated in French and available at  http://mountvf.calimerou.fr/ ?

For those who cannot wait to test a french translation, this is where you can begin to play ! This translation has been reviewed and fixed since many weeks and is today very clean and stable.

Use it and enjoy !

 
No it's definitely not too late. This fan translation is an amateur job and far from reaching the quality standards of mount and blade. It was nice to try though.

It says 1970, and I believe he modified the data in the forum database, since he registered at exactly 1:00:00 am on january 1st, it's almost impossible to register at that time, plus it was about 34 years before the 2nd person register...

That or he really registered at that time, when he started to work on M&B, but I doubt it...
 
For me it says 11:00PM December 31st, 1969 for me. Time differences, heh.

Also, I'm saying this here so that when he checks it, he might see this and answer it himself. I half expect him to say "TIME IS IRRELEVANT TO ME" and then float back to heaven.  :razz:

Did you really used the very last translation ?

So we are not reaching the "quality standards" of Mount & Blade ? OK, let's wait for the marvelous professional french translation (that requires a beta testing by the good willing community), and we'll see if really the "professional" french is better than our... Honestly, due to the flat sentences of the game that are generally pure statements and not real passionate dialogs, I doubt !

Hey man, relax, he didn't say it was a bad job, he only said that the nonofficial translation isn't as good as the official one, and has many typos and errors. But you're human, you're not a company that does that as a job. Everyone can do errors. Don't take it personal.
 
Indeed, but, as Daneel, I think that it is not a reason to denigrate our work.  :neutral:

However, this official translation is a very good news for all French-speaking players of M&B  :grin:

Hello again!
The time for us to deliver the test reports to the translation team is due, that means the beta-test phase has come to an end!
A big thank you goes out to all players who volunteered to help us out with the language pack release. You have done a great job testing the hell out of the pack! The release date for the French-language pack 1.0 will be announced asap!
