Looking for an infantry based mod.

As there isn't really a topic where you can ask minor questions about mods i saw no other way then to start a new topic.

Now unlike a lot off players i hate calvary. I don't mind to have some ingame. But ussually the game get's screwed due to unbalanced armies and you have to face hordes off calvary one after an other horde. So therefor i'm looking for a mod which balances this. Where there is either no Calvary or they are two expansive to stack an army off 100 calvary units.

So i hope some people can tell me which mod to look to, as i get lost looking for one.

if you get the troop editor you can just edit out the cavalry

@ TinTin.
Yeah i have it, but never used before.

@ExorcisT.
Thanks, i'll try that out asap :D!
go on it. load up the module folder you want to change. there's a drop down menu. go onto troop.txt. then go through all mounted troops and remove horses. I fyou need a more detailed description just ask

I guess I'll ask the obvious question here:

Why did you buy Mount and Blade if you don't care for mounts?

Not saying you HAVE to like them... but they are pretty easy to build tactics against. Makes for a lot of easy victories.

thats actually a good question

I was looking for a mod too with some less cavalry… actually the horses are too predominant in all the mods and native. Seems like every beggar can get a horse, though in reality good horses were really expensive. also the armor etc., in early middle ages only very rich people could have a chainmail for example. So I'm going to try those mods you suggested and say thanks too!

Yeah i know, the name states it all. And at the very beginning i liked a lot. But when you go further into the game the calvary kinda messes it up imo. Fighting with 80 men against an army off 400 while they have at least 200 calvary units isn't my kind off fun. Not every faction has to become a Mongol faction imo. Horses are expansive and where hard to find in medieval times. Heck in any timeline. THat's why they where considerd as elite units. Not as regulars. So if the game would let it be 90% infantry and 10% calvary. i would be very happy as it would be more realistic. Plus i don't like chasing the battlfield for 5 minutes to kill the last 6 of my opponents calvary units to win the battle.

@ Tuckles. Thanks for the advice! I'll try that one out aswell!

The Eagle and the Wolves is more infantry based.  There are cavalry, but not much.  And yes, your best bet is Roots.

Fair enough. I'm into my 40th level on Native and it hasn't been much of an issue, but then again, I use a lot of horsemen. As for the running around the battlefield... they only go off if one of your horses is chasing them. Just F1 your men to you, and the enemy will come to you. If they're an archer horseman, they'll skirt your line, but you can always catch them close enough to de-horse or kill them. It's all in how you manage the tactics.

You can also edit most of the troops to be horseless too. If it bothers you. If you're into the Greeks... try the Peloponnesian War mod. It's strictly ground foot combat with spears and such. Not much in the way of releases lately, but it's fairly complete as is.

867 A.D. - Lords of War back in .903 was great.
Agreed. But yeah, it is for an older version, so chances are those who started out with 1.011 will be traumatized by the jump from the 1.x animations/textures to the .903 animations/textures.

I never thought off that... I always figured that the troops ran away when you had the massive upperhand. Loss off morale etc. Just like on the rts-map. Armies smaller then your own will run away. I've been playing the Peloponnesian war mod since last night and i must say it's one the most complete beta's i'ver ever seen released from a mod :o. The only thing what i'm missing is the map and the city names. But that's about it. And having a lot off horsemen is good fun, but i ussually like to get off my horse in battle and engage the enemy with my infantry. Brave but stupid for a commander i know ;). Problem aswell is that when having too many calvary that sometimes you hardly get a chance to take a swing at the enemy, unless your calvary line stays intact and you make rushes to their flanks with the calvary on follow.

@Orj, I've got 1.11 atm. So i don't think i'm going through the hassele of reinstalling everything for a mod i might not even like(i'm not easily satisfied lol). Then i rather edit them out in mods i already play and like. THanks for suggestion though!
