Looking for a videogame

Hey everybody, i figured i'd ask yall because alot of people on this forum seems to enjoy the same kind of game i do. you know, why we all bought M&B.

so i'm looking for a new videogame. something free-roaming, but with massive battles between armies. I've played viking battle for asgard (GREAT game), and thats pretty close to what i'm looking for. I don't really care about the time period as long as its not based in the future. Mercenaries 1 (and 2 i guess, but 2 wasnt as good) were pretty close to what i like, just the scale wasn't large enough. the dynasty warriors series is pretty good, but i didn't like how the standard soldiers were so weak, and its also not a pure free-roam game. If you've heard of Arma, i have yet to try that but it doesn't look like its gunna be what i'm looking for.

So can any of you help me out here? i've tried googling for games like that but can't find anything good.

if you have a console bladestorm is pretty good. if you interested in strategy games try the total war series.

I don't know many other than the Battlefield series with AI count mods that would fit this.

Of course, in Hidden And Dangerous 2 you usually have to deal with 62+ (The minimal number on a map I believe) germans which you and your squad have to silently evade or eliminate them.

Quite fun and very customizable as well!

Sword of the stars is futuristic, but none of that cheesy tired old stuff like ground battles and such, you can control entire populations from space. Albeit the only options you give are surrender or become part of a large glass ball.

Thanks everybody, but i'm not looking for an RTS, i've already played the total war series (LOVE IT) but now i'm looking for an RPG or a FPS with battles the size of an RTS if you know what i mean. I've already played rise and fall: civilizations at war, that was pretty good, but not exactly what i'm looking for. like i said a game with only a little commanding, if any, would be perfect. thanks for the replies, haha and yeah i saw that there was an "other videogames" thing right after i posted this, my bad

Heh, you could try Darkest of Days.

Has rather large amounts of troops on the screen at one time, of course the game itself is fairly average in most respects.
