Long term wounding - have I got this right?

I think I understand it:

You or your companions can receive wounds from battle which subtract 2 from an attribute.  It takes about a month to heal.  Another wound to that same area doesn't subtract another 2 points, but does extend the time the wound takes to heal.  When an attribute is affected in this way, it will act as if it's at the lower level with regard to skills (restricting how you can raise skills when leveling up).

So if your STR was at 11, then it gets knocked down to 9, sure you can level up and add 1 to it, but it will still just be at 10 and you still cannot increase STR-based skills beyond 3.  But when it heals, it'll be at 12 (original 11 plus 1) and if you have any skill points saved then you can increase STR skills to 4.

Is that it?

Yes, I just did this tonight, I had massive wounds to STR AGI and CHR  So I waited a month building up levels because I knew once I healed I could then select higher skills.

Best bet is to just wait it out and let your troops do the work while you skirmish the enemies and don't put yourself in grave danger.

Actually, i play with Wounded System on lol
only one  companion of mine got like 3 wound  IN ONE BATTLE!
Yep.
I send him with only a Arming Sword

I've got a followup for the original question, might as well bring it here instead of making a new thread.

My concern is that having played with the long term wounding on, and having most of my companions badly wounded (call me reckless  ), I decided to do some changes to my party. So i threw out most of them, and recruited others, and now I actually re-recruited many of the original.

Being a bit of a wuss I turned off the system for now, and now I'm wondering whether the already wounded guys will now heal up, since I've thrown them out, gotten them back, and turned off the system, I may have broken them for good? As there is no way of seeing who is wounded other than right after the battle, I'm just hoping that the excellent people who made this mod have made made this system fool-proof, as I've been a bit of a fool.

The various wounds and the respective healing times should show up ont he morale screen [Reports -> Party Morale].
Or was it somewhere else? But it was either way Reports -> X. One of the submenus there.

Can't tell you if it ****ed them up for good though.

I've played some more, and everything is in working order. I started getting messages about the wounded companions that I kicked out recovering from their wounds.
And you are correct, the wound status of your companions is located in party morale.

Since it is so wonderfully arranged, I will now turn it on again. It brings another dimension to the game, where you actually feel a little bad when getting your guys into trouble.

I turned it off until the would corresponds to where you actually got hit. I took an arablast to the face for a 1 hit KO and somehow busted my leg losing 2 agility, another time I took facial damage saving two of my nord recruits from a paladins charger (Took it right out from under him, took an archers arrow since I had to put my shield down) lost 2 charisma, and in turn 4 nord warriors left me the next hour @.@ Since when the **** do nords look down on scars!?

Another question popped into my head.

Can you/companions get wounds even when not knocked out. Say I take a axe to the chest but barely live on, will I get a wound?

I haven't experienced that yet and I don't think you can do something like that without an insanely amount of script running int he background.

I hadn't either, was just curious.

I wouldn't want it to be like that actually, would be far too annoying with everyone getting wounded all the time.

We can't change it to deal with where you got hit. That's hardcoded.
