Sergeant at Arms
I am in the midst of assembling my uber undead army but I am not sure what you do after that.  Joining a faction and taking over the world would be very easy and antithetical to the main premise of the mod.  Going off solo seems impossible (unless you can kill captured Lords) since the regen rate of Lords' armies would be too big.

The forum seem to say if you actually capture a city or castle it will provide no income.  The only thing that seems to make sense is join a usurper with no allies.  What works?

BTW, awesome Mod!!!

Go solo and crush everything. Once you have a 70+ top level army (abominations, golems,...) nothing can stand in your way but ocassional 1000 men king led campaign.

I usually sign up as a mercenary which will mean I can attack one or two factions whenever I want and once I get all the equipment and companions I want, then I go solo and attack everyone usually the faction I  joined as a mercenary since they will be spread out and easy to take down.

Well first, when I captured a city or a castle and the properity that went with it, I did get the money from it. My idea was similiar to the one above except to join the kingdom as a vassel that way you can keep what you conquer and have a base garrison to restock on troops if any are lost (SMALL CHANCE!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!) during battle.

It's far easier to go for solo conquest than vanilla.

On the other hand, the same tactics which work for that work here - joining a faction, getting what
you can, and then betraying it.

Fiefs DO generate money.

The only tricky part is when you are in rebellion (by whatever means) with a large holding,
keeping everything is safe is hard. But again, a lot easier than in native.

Do you have to join a claimant to go solo?  Without a claimant you cannot besiege towns or can you if you raid enough villages/ caravans etc?

You can stay fully solo, and start working on a bad rep with a faction by destroying villages and attacking caravans. But when you finally take a castle the game will warn you that you are an independent or "rebel" lord, and that the other factions will be all over your ass. This makes progression after this point very hard, since all the factions may declare war on you. I have been defeated in a castle by an army of over 1000 men this way before.

The best bet is to join a faction, hunt all other factions to extinction, and then turn on your faction. By then you should have numerous holdings, and an army big enough to handle taking on an entire faction.

Thanks.  BTW major props to you N0ught!  The music, graphics, additional content, legends, items are FANTASTIC.  I played M&B for over 200 hours and never felt I was going to do it again.  It is amazing how you disrupted so many core elements in the game (economy, balance, joining factions etc) and still made it a lot of fun.

I increased the benefits of leadership and prisoner management with tweakmb.

This meant i could make use of all prisoners captured, and when capturing a town, all prisoners became its new garrison.

I found it pretty easy doing it that way and still fun and didnt feel like a cheat to me.
