When you come across rare horses e.g. from a spouse or as tournament price, it would be really nice if you can "lock them out" from being used for normal troop upgrades.
Somes you just don't have the companion with the right skill around to "park" a horse before you can actually use it yourself. And if such a rare horse is then used by the game to upgrade a troop with dozens of other usable horses in your inventory you feel kinda cheated by the game.
