hi,
just downloaded & played the game a couple hours. Great job! I haven't bought it yet but I plan to soon. :smile:
I am a little confused about how to switch my weapons while fighting bandits in the wilderness. Is there a key to quickly switch between my equiped weapons? I always start a fight with my sword. On the inventory screen I have a crossbow equiped but I can't figure out how to switch & use it during a fight.
My apology if this question has been asked before, I couldn't find the answer in the forums.
Also, has anyone made a quick reference card? A .jpg of all the keys and their corresponding commands would be great.

Hi.

To switch weapons during a fight you press ']' or '[' to go to 'next weapon' or 'last weapon'. The weapons are the ones you put in the four boxes just to the right of your character in the inventory. You have to have stuff to shoot for the crossbow - bolts.

Basically that's all you need to know I learned this stuff by intuition. 'F' is the action key to open doors, speak to people, open your inventory (a kind of chest) during the battles, to mount a horse and so on.

Other keys are the '1' to '5' keys on your keyboard. They tell your troops to do stuff during battle. I think they're this

'1' = to tell them to stay where they are,

'2' = to follow you,

'3' = to charge, (if you dont know where the enemy is press this then see where the guys are going then press '2' and go in that direction)

'4' = mount or dismount horses for your knights

'5' = the opposite of '4'

That's all I know.

I: Open your inventory (not working in a battle)
C: Open your character sheet
P: Open your party screen

WASD: Forward-left-back-right

Tab: Retreat battle / leave area
Space: Jump
Shift: Zoom in
~: Zoom out (to view your character's outfit, most likely)
F6: Toggle first person / third person view

Likely others. F2 opens a graphical options window (and, crashes the game on me)

Someone told about a hot-key to rear your horse (r). Haven't tested.

Or, you could just go to in-game options and re-define the keys! :razz:

Arrow keys for movement are just so much better! :grin: (I hope I don't start a 'wasd vs arrow keys' war of words by saying that :razz: )

I used to prefer the arrow keys too, untill battlefield 1942 and counter strike source made me accustomed to the zqsd (azerty keayboard)

I started M&B on a new computer, black keyboard with white letters. My asdw are much, much darker now than the rest of the keyboard :lol:

Maybe I should change the keys to distribute the grime :grin:

Other key: Q brings up your list of quests.

I don't think my game crashed when I told my infantry to mount horses. I believe, I've got a pic of a townsman riding a horse.

Yeah. What's up with that?

I've had a lot of problems because when I'm facing mounted bandits or dark knights I get all my riders (about half of my people) to dismount for the first wave. At the end when there are just a few dark knights riding around it's impossible to follow them on foot and I can't tell my riders to remount.

I'm a keypad gamer, myself. 0 for jump, + for action, / and * for weapon and shield swap respectively. The Home/End/PageUp/etc. block is for status screens and camera control.

I find it works well for my playing style. I wish I could rebind troop commands, though; reaching over for 1-5 is a momentary diversion that I could do without.
