links not working

Greetings,

I hope this is the right place for me to get some help with my problem.
For some reason internal links in this forum are not working correctly for me. Everytime I click on a link in a post, I get redirected to the main index page of the forum. Links leading to external pages are working fine, only links inside the forum don't seem to work.
...and I just can't figure out why...

I've been searching through the forum, but it looks like I'm the only one with this problem (...or I've been looking in the wrong places). So I guess its got something to do with my browser. I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 on Windows XP.
Other forums are working fine and I've been experiencing this bug(?) in the taleworlds forum only so far.

I can't figure out, what I'm doing wrong. So hopefully someone out there can help.

Forgot to mention, that the address bar actually shows the correct address of the link I clicked on. But its still the main index page.

Looks like I have to be logged in for the links to work properly.

When I'm not logged in, every link throws me back to the index.
When I sign in, they work. After signing out, they still work.
When I restart Firefox, its back to index again.

So I guess its some cookie-thingy going on there.
After I figured it out its not that big of a problem anymore. Though I haven't experienced something like that in any other forum yet.

Again, what link(s) specifically have you had that happen with?

I can't duplicate this problem while logged out either, and whether you're logged in or not should logically make absolutely no difference anyway.

It happens with all links leading to topics/post inside this forum. I've tried it with several links from different posts.
Its the same with the two links you posted above.

I know that it should not make a difference wether I'm logged in or not. And I know that cookies should have nothing to do with it.
But thats the way it is.

Sounds like a problem on your end, then. As I said, I can't duplicate it, and nobody else has reported anything like that happening.

Actually, I think I know what he's talking about. It sounds similar to what I've experienced.... but only on my own computer. I figured it must be something odd with my FF/IE.

I click on links posted by members, be it to other topics or profiles, and it usually redirects me to the index. I've had it NOT happen a few times, but I can't figure out what's different between those that work and those that don't.

But, it's only happened, iirc, on my computer. Other computers with the same version of FF and IE that I have are fine.

I think it is something to do with the cookies. I can't stay logged in here, either, after I close the browser, but at my aunt's I open the page and I'm always logged in. I have some things set up to disable a lot of cookies, so I believe that's probably it. Which is why I never said anything.

Out of curiosity, you're not accessing the site through the IP address now, are you?

Accessing through the IP address could cause some oddities like that.

Otherwise, your computer or your ISP might have a DNS caching issue. You could try restarting your computer and/or disconnecting & reconnecting your modem.

Nah, I'm connecting through the second link. I've restarted my computer several times since I came here, heh, and it still does it.

Though I've never tried disconnecting my modem. It's not such a big deal that I'd put much thought into it.

Sounds exactly like what I've experienced so far.

I was looking through the forum via a friends laptop, without being logged in. Everything worked fine. He uses the same version of Firefox. Though I have to say, I didn't check if he had the same settings in options.

Back at my PC I click the very same links in the posts and I get to the index. After I log in everything works fine again.
