Shred has left the team for this mod. While it's a sad thing, he did give me all of the resources for the mod. I am not as experienced as he is, but I do promise to keep working on this. And this will be the only thing I am working on. Also, Shred will be helping me anyway, giving advice and such. So I won't be bumbling around too much, I hope.

So the state of the mod. When Shred and I were working on it, we flip-flopped a couple times from MP to SP to MP. I'm settling that, as this will be a strictly SP mod (for now). I'm going to replace all factions, rewrite a lot of the dialog and quests, and add some new quests too (say, "Go to this bandit hideout, and scavenge supplies"). So this is a total conversion. I won't divulge all of my ideas for the SP experience, but know that I will try and differentiate it from the Native experience. The freedom of choice will of course be there. There will be a "main-quest" that I am writing right now, but it will be entirely optional.

I have permission to include shred's models and textures for this mod, and as such I will. I'll also continue making melee weapons, and I hope to remove every single native item and replace them with modern "equivalents" you could say. Hopefully the amount of weapons, armor, trade goods, vehicles, etc. will equal or surpass the amount in Native.

I am glad it isn't MP, cause like many other great mods like Hunt and 1866, they some how died after a couple of days, and with SP you have 1. Endless time to play, 2. Ones it's done, there will most likely be an MP version later on (atleast I hope so)

But hope it's gonna b finishd and be awesome :wink:

But first of all, seing that it's SP, I hope you are making the zombies slow? And just 1 sort? Like real Romero zombies? And make the main quest very very very long =D

That's a hell lot of weapons. I only hope they have their original sounds and shots per charge.

First I need to replace all of the native terrain textures, and I need to make tons more scene props. Then sceneing could begin, and I'd love to have you on board.

The zombies will be split into two factions, one will be the fast infected of 28 Days Later, Left 4 Dead, etc., but they will have small numbers. The other faction will be the traditional slow zombies, and they will have vast numbers.

Then I'm thinking of maybe 3 Human factions. The Survivors (average, everyday people, with a focus on melee weapons and light firearms), the "Government" (a conglomeration of the Military and local Law Enforcement, military hardware and police hardware), the CDC (they'll have broken away from the Government, for reasons unknown, as of now, and will have access to cool anti-zombie weapons and armor).

These 3 factions will all be at war with both of the zombie factions, but also sometimes each other. I'll be adding Diplomacy mod most likely, too, to add some more fun to the politics of the human factions. At the start of the game, however, there will be no diplomatic interaction with the zombie factions. That could change the further you go into the main quest, though.

I think you should have only 2 major factions, government and the CDC, and then have lots of different survivor factions, ranging from smaller peaceful agricultural settlements to large groups of raiders to reinforced cities to nomadic tribes. This way, you wouldn't really have huge factions dominating the map but smaller settlements and tribes fighting to survive.

Also, would be cool if you could bring in the politics system from the Lunar Wars, but that's probably not that necessary.

Anyone else getting the feeling that this might turn into a modern zombie version of fallout 3 and new vegas?.

Not really. I New Vegas the factions were quite well established and weren't really fighting for their very survival.

Yes. I could still use it, as a variety of riot shields wouldn't be a bad thing.

Also, when Shred sent me the files for lifeless, I discovered he had textured my shield already.


Not as bad as I'd feared.

I like this idea. You could have a range of minor factions, from religious city states to an alliance of farmers to a group of scientists trying to establish control over zombies and turn them into servants.

@Valmy: I'd suggest having a dirtied up model as well. Maybe add some mud or a scorch mark, and possibly peal the paint on the words a bit. Assign the ones that have seen use to the veterans.

Of course. A lot of shred's textures are too clean. I'll have to go through and attempt to change that.
