**** the encyclopedia, some players that go rushing kingdom will find it useful, but for many of us want to immerse us in a place that feels believable and allows us to discover places and people, the encyclopedia literally cuts out that experience, how do you find out whose parent this lady is? Do you go and ask her, or ask someone inside the world? Nope, just open a wiki to find out. How do you find out where someone is, do you talk to a guard about it? No, just do telekinesis. How do you find out if a lord is a dishonorable ****, do you speak with him about his views or does he/she give you quests that require you to do mean stuff? Nope, just check the menu pal, that's the new way, this way of having no interaction with anybody trashed the fun out of the game, I have literally 0 to no reason to talk to anybody because everything is through menus, why is this even called an RPG then? I feel like TW is in a crossroad and they definitely dont know what the game should be, it's an strategy game, it is a roleplaying game, I dont know, but I know most of the players want a story they can create along the way, and this new formula is taking us away from it even further than in Warband, I genuinely got more story immersed in Warband than I got here.
I would add an adventurer campaign that brings back the immersion and stops you from being a know it all god

Sounds great but I doubt that it is a priority right now. Lets get soldiers ascending siege towers properly, survival mode can wait

I agree that it would be a lot more immersive if the Encyclopedia started out mostly blank, or just with the general knowledge that an average person would know, and then would fill in as you discover more information. But then, for that to work, there'd need to be much more interaction with the NPCs, which is sorely lacking right now. Even if you wanted to talk with NPCs, there's not much to talk about.

The thing that bothers me the most about the encyclopedia is having to use it to find lords. It wasn't perfect in Warband but it made sense. Find the nearest friendly lord and ask him, he'll tell you where the guy is near and where he's going. Very helpful. Maybe not realistic, but it's more realistic than the encyclopedia.

Definitely...TW invested so much time and effort on the settlements atmosphere...and they've done a great job! But it wouldn't make sense to just leave it without a purpose. This info should be added as we interact with the npcs in the local tavern, nobles, etc
Although I'm sure the powergamers and alike wouldn't like it, so just leave it optional.

Worse than the magic encyclopedia is how the AI can instantly know where enemy armies are, but the player can't unless they see an army with "going to defend at X. The AI can pinpoint its own armies, but the player has to rely on outdated information about where the army is headed, not where they are.

It's this selective telepathy that makes the system so silly. In warband you would see stuff like "last seen near X" based on the player's own in-game knowledge, like a personal ledger. Similarly you would get messages like "large army spotted near X" which seem to be absent in bannerlord.

.

How difficult would it be to implement a system of real-time information spread around the map, though? Taking into account all parties and settlements that 'witness' character movements and events, and pass it on to other characters they meet or places they visit?
I have no idea, but it seems like it might be a pretty daunting undertaking?

I totally agree!
It seems like TW has watered down the game to cater to a wider and more "spoiled" audience.
With the Encyclopedia they also cut down drastically on coding I guess, no need for elaborate stuff like diplomacy or else, it's an in-game wiki.
I just cannot immerse in BL, I am constantly reminded I am playing a beautiful but dumb game, what a pity...

The game could just store a "last known position" for every party which updates whenever theyre near a settlement or another friendly party, and have lords head towards that rather than the party itself. This would also let the player basically escape capture if they stayed away from settlements. Right now armies either telepathically spot each other or just stumble into each other, there is no in between.

A mod of this would be better. Warband mods that do this is a very odd experience, its a bit too hard core to have a fog of war system in Bannerlord for every player. I like things as they are maybe this could be a tweak or a mod.

I don't have problem with encyclopedia, though the option where it fills as you play and get to know new things would be really cool yes.
For example, you visited the village (But didn't enter). The basic information about the village is added (What faction it belongs to, what is the culture)... But if you enter it (on foot or horse), even more information is added, like what is the primary production, do people look well fed or they starve and struggle?... But if you enter AND talk to the peasants, even more information is added: Latest rumors, who's the owner, what kind of man/woman he/she is...

That would be awesome.

And also, finding the lords should not be that easy. In first M&B and Warband scouts were important. Here, scouts' perks doesn't even add much at all. In those early games you could really see the difference between having a good scout or not, in how much you saw on the map, how fast you traveled, etc. Here the scouting means nothing.

"I have a question"

"..."

"Nevermind."

Man, they sure had time to come up with some actual dialogue. Something like a decade or...
