Les Miserables Mod

Sergeant at Arms
I was thinking about trying to make a minor mod that just adds a castle where you are defending the barricade with a team of students. You would be defending it against the French National Guard. So.... if anyone would like to contribute a french army uniform model and a student's uniform model. Then I could take care of the rest.

In the book, they had purchased guns. This was an organized revolution. They would have accurate muskets. The National Guard would have crappy army muskets.

Will National guard build formations? Soldiers in that time mostly fought in skirmish line.

Yea. If anyone decides to make it, it should be in the next version. But we can still plan. I think you should choose either students or soldiers. The student side loses, but take many army men with them. The army is victorious. But every soldier only scores about 2 kills if he's lucky.

How did you do that title pic? who is your artist, he must be a hired pro
no  that was from stronghold 2
and it is Little that i come near to be baned

I don't need much. I just need models for 2 different kinds of muskets, a 19th century student uniform, and a French army uniform.

YOu could use some musket models from Yoshiboy's "Firearms-Call to arms" mod. He's got some really nice models in there. As for the army uniforms you could use gambeson's

Also this is a french uniform but later ages on (I think WW2)

No. In Les Miserables Victor Hugo describes the street battles in Paris in 1832, aftermath of the July Revolution of 1830.

Information about the uniforms of the Garde Nationale in the 1830ies is hard to find, most sources refer to the revolution of 1848
(btw: would like to see a 1848 mod very much ... *hint* *hint*).

Maybe the following can be helpful though.

Garde Nationale in 1848:

As an inspiration -French infantry in the 1840ies:

I'll keep looking for new stuff.

It's in early 19th century, right? During Napoleons reign?
The uniform posted by Tsoum is the "horizon blue" First World War uniform.

I'd use the 1831 guarde mobile uniform from the pic posted by von Schweinewitz, if I were you.

Ok! I love the guard uniforms! All I need is some student pictures. Then I need someone to make a texture and model. I will make the mod itself.

I doubt that there was such a thing as a regular uniform for students. The following paintings show men (and some women) fighting in the streets of Paris during the July revolution of 1830. They wore a mixture of civilian and military clothing.

One source says that the first painting shows students in combat.

(Combat de la rue de Rohan le 29 juillet 1830 by Hippolyte Lecomte.)

Battle for the town hall:

(Le combat devant l’Hôtel de ville le 28 juillet 1830 by Jean-Victor Schnetz)

And, of course, the most famous painting:

La Liberté guidant le peuple by Eugène Delacroix.

The young man on the right of Miss Liberty is often described as a student and sometimes thought to be an inspiration of the Gavroche character in Victor Hugo's novel.

Yes, WW2.
French uniforms were red and blue before 1916, like in von Sweinewitz's pics.
The student uniform was a large black robe. But during the troubles of 1830 and later, there was other part of the population : workers, middle class people, tramps...
That were troubled times, between monarchy and republic.
