To append to my suggestion of bringing back bastard weapons, I wonder if this could work as a Perk 2:

Melee Expert replaced with Bastard Weapon:
Movement speed bonus increased from 5% to 7%
Upgrades your one-handed weapon to a bastard weapon
- Sword and Shield: Long Spatha replaced with Vlandian Bastard Sword
- Axe Specialist: Imperial Heavy Axe replaced with Imperial Battle Axe
- Mace Specialist: Imperial Heavy Mace replaced with Quarterstaff (suggested stats below)

Quarterstaff
- Swing Speed: 87
- Swing Damage: 55 Blunt
- Thrust Speed: 90
- Thrust Damage: 24 Blunt
- Length: 147
- When used with a shield, it will only have thrusting attacks
