I'm not into that kind of game, but from what I see it just looks like another Total War.

I'm no Blaspheme... I just can't play any other RTS's other than Age of Empires II and even that got boring :???: I just love RPG's is all.

Why do people assume RTW is good?

Anyhoo, I played the demo, and I like it a lot. If I had any money, I'd go out and buy it. It isn't an RTW clone--in it, you take a small army, fight some battles (in a linear storyline, from what I could tell in the demo), and you recruit new men and better equip your army. It's a lot of fun.
Also, because of the fact that your general only has so many command points, you really have to plan your battle out pretty well before hand.

Ugh, now I really want it again.

Ever heard of it's predecessor, Medieval: Total War? And the subsequent expansion pack, Viking Invasion? Completely blows Rome out of the water as far as gameplay is concerned, in my opinion.

I'm with Stonewall, having played all the Total War series for several years I've come to the conclusion that in terms of gameplay, Medieval is far superior. Not only is it more balanced with better battles (longer, more realistic etc. etc.) but it also is far more atmospheric and emersive. Rome just doesn't pull this off, all that pretty eye candy but no depth.

hmm sounds kind of cheesy, but i might get it when it gets all cheap, hehe.

man has anyone seen that cable-tv documentary series which just uses clips from rome: total war to describe battles?

Why is everyone forgeting about Shogun: Total War, the one that started it all and by far the best.

For the sake of trying to remain on topic, It looks like a fairly interesting game but I dont buy any game until they become cheap.
