You should be able to leave units with your heroes inside the Four Ways Inn. Currently, the only way to leave units with them is when they are outside. This is a pain because enemies chase them around, and catch them. It's annoying to leave all your knights with a hero, go and train some footmen to veterans, and come back to find you have 3 knights left.

This is why your leadership skill is important. You have to decide. Do you want to get good at combat but have a hard time managing troops, or do you want to focus on developing units instead of how far back you can pull your bow string. It's part of the strategy of the game.

If you put them at Zendar or lower nothing will ever go by them besides the occasional River Pirates. But if your units are any good River Pirates wont even think about it.
