Leaving a kingdom as a Mercenary is really punishing isn't it? It behaves the exact same way as if you were a vassal. In Warband, you were just on a contract for 1 month. This game really should have a difference just like Warband did. And it's really annoying since it just ruined all my relations with Vlandia in one fell swoop.

I think I read something from Callum saying that the current system is a placeholder and basically behaves as if you were to pledge normally. And a true mercenary system will be along later.
In any case I agree that the current system punishes you for playing it as it should be played.
