Well size does not equate to popularity, and tld is a very different kinda mod from AoA and will appeal to different people - or perhaps to the same people, but in a different way. 

The looks are definitely top notch though, IMO (which I had nothing to do with). As for how people like the setting and dialog and quests GD and I have been cooking up, only time will tell, but I am pretty happy so far.

Even once I get back to LoM, though, it is going to take a long time. I plan to have LoM be very procedurally generated in many respect, and in fact it already is to a large degree.  So, codingwise it is even more ambitious than AoA in some ways and will take a lot of time to complete - but at the same time with LoM I think I wil release it much earlier in development because it's not so much a game that will be spoiled by playing it through multiple times like most RPGs are.

there are several good mods out there which are still in a pretty early stage of development yet are very popular: sieges mod by DarkAnd and Battle for sicily by nijis, so rock on bryce!
