and what about new animations to go with new skelletons?tha would be a blast!
of course new animated skeletons

# 15) Skeleton name
# 16) Scale (doesn't fully work yet)

skins.py doesn't say that applying another skeleton does not work. You just can't create a new one right now, btw: Armagan said he will probably release a brf export script, that would make it possable too.

I would rather have a full head with vertex animation, but it is certainly beyond me to do it and I did not want to ask too much from others..
maybe a picture of a orc face?

Man, that really sucks.  I thought .8 would really take care of all that, but really it is not any better than before.  Even the scaling does not work?  That is an extreme disappointment.  Well, I suppose I can hold off release as long as I like.  Maybe in 6 months a .85 will come out that has what is needed, and by then I should have everything else more than ready.  Oh well.  For now there is much more to do besides make pretty balrogs, though nice-looking balrogs is the one thing I truly want to have before I make any kind of 'real' release.
you can add new skeletons as soon as thorgrim adds skeleton support to BRFEdit. rescaling doesn't work and hitboxes are still a huge problem

Ah, that is good to know.  Even a slight size difference would be a big help, and I could just ignore the hitboxes til .85/.90 come out, I guess.

so when is release planned?

At this point I am thinking 3-4 months.  I could do an alpha I guess, once I am done converting to .8 (which is turning out to be a big pain), but I would rather wait til I have a fully finishable game.

Oh, and it was Finrod and Sauron.  I realized that right after posting but have not remembered to note it in case someone was paying attention.  I have recently reread the silmarillion (which I do every year anyway) and I will do so again before I release and then check for any stupid errors.  It is just so hard for me to keep all the names, straight, though.

Oh, and duh.  I updgraded to .806.  Now I see .807 is out, though.  There are some mission template issues that make me want to stab myself in the eye, but everything else should be ok.  So, I should be able to start doing real work.  I also have had some very good contributions from Great Duke with a few more in the works for this weekend.  I was worried that i would not have much in the way of contributions, but I think by the time I actually release people will be very pleased.  I still have not added in a lot of the stuff I have from him, but I will do so this weekend, and try to do some serious writing as well, and work on larger towns.

heh. sorry. I'll try to get those walls and such to you soon, as well as some map icons. been busy with going back to work lately

hey, that is fine.  Oh, and are they working with the new .80x version of the castle props?  If not that is ok, but the new ones do look nice.

Hope your hand (or was it arm) is doing better, btw.

Ok, Tolkien experts.

Orc equipment for the first age?

Most all of the descriptions of equipment I can think of come from the third age.  The only ones I can think of for sure from the first age are talking about a force of orcs being clad entirely in dun colored clothing with no naked steel showing, and one describing the orcs as being all clad and shod in iron in another battle.  For the  third age they are mostly described as having curved swords and also using spears and axes.  Anything specific to the first age out there?

Great Duke is working on some stuff now.  I have sent him a few ideas along and a few little surprises are in the works but more info (if there is any) would be appreciated.  I imagine that things would have in fact changed over time.  Also, the noldorin captives were used to do lots of the smithing and mining, so that might have some influence, as well....

Axes, clubs, hammers and other crude weapons like those, no sabers or fancy sword. But Morogoth did have a bunch of elvish slaves and human ones, these guys made the weapons, armor and mined. So their weapons and armor arn't the worst(I think the Easterlings would have had the worst armor and weapons), but its not as good as the elvish stuff. Also they would have blackend their weapon to hide them or sheathed them.

Heres a good site for Middle earth stuff, most is for the thrid age. http://www.tuckborough.net/

Well, the orcs themselves are supposed to be cunning smiths, as well.  I would not think their weapons as good as the elves', but I would think they would be effective and cruel.  Ingenious even.  Also, Morgoth and the other spirits of fire no doubt had a hand in some of their making or at least design....

Pretty much no fancy long swords or sabers for them. And when I said crude I was talking about looks.

If you mean by fancy then bejewelled then I agree, but really I am looking for some kind of actual quotes if possible.

Well I can't remember the excat qoute, but its about the balgrogs(sp)

The cast a fire throng around him, and then Gothmog cut the certain elf king in half and beat him into the dust with their maces. It goes something like that, its during the battle of unumbering(sp) tears. Its late here, so ingore my spelling.

I have a few suggestions for this mod wich i think is going to be amazing.

1. For the orcs bodies, try to make them taller and more bulkier, otherwise they will just look like humans with green faces.

2. post more screens

Well, I had not touched this for 6 weeks.  I FINALLY got everything converted, though.  Well, there are probably still niggles left, but nothing serious.  I had some real problems since I probably have more complex code than a lot of mods.

Anyhow, I will still work on LoM, but I will focus more on Age of Ash until it gets released.  This is a harder project in a lot of ways because there is lots of procedurally generated content and I have less help.

I do have lots of awesome faces from Great Duke, as well as 3 armors and 2 helmets that I think are great.  There is a plethora of faces, so I don't have screenshots of them all...but his work is tops.  Plus, I have some real good faces from highelfwarrior, as well, most of which I have not shown yet.  I still need to decide some of the direction for orc coloring and orc versus goblin, etc.

So, here are some screenshots:
