Languages of "Age of Empires 2" and "The Conquerors"

Me and a friend of mine's been talkin' 'bout the languages of Age of Empires 2 and the expansion.

And so, I was wondering, are the languages the nations speak real/correct?

A Lebanese dude I know told me that most, if not all, of the Saracen talk is Arabic.

I know, I shouldn't trust games that much, but does anyone know anything about it?

Well, the Koreans say stuff that...kind of make sense.

If you tell a villager to go chop wood, he'll say, "Lumberjack!" If you tell him to farm a farm, he'll say, "farmer!"

Makes sense, I guess, but people usually don't yell out the occupation you assign them when you tell them to do stuff.

It's correct in Turkish, but it sounds kinda weird when you say them in Turkish.

The goth's language in AOK is the same as the teutons.

The only languages i know are german and English, so i can only really validate the authenticity of the english and teuton languages. They sound reasonably spot on, some of the things they say are understandable, and some sound slightly mutated as i suppose you'd expect.

I'd doubt the goth's language is right, though.

The words said by vikings doesn't sound like any (modern)
Scandinavian language - Swedish, Danish, Norwegian.
(Don't know about Iceland, Faeroe Islands and Finland)

I think they are just random words with Scandinavian accent.

I remembered you as Danish, but then you said:

and I thought my memory failed. You must know that's far from Danish/Norwegian/Swedish.

"Fiskimathr" sounds like "Fish matter"

Fiski is 'the act of fishing', maðr. “Fishing man”

I can relate; the first time I found out what that meant was pretty cool.
But regardless of what languages they say, their death grunts are all the same

Yeah, they just say their job for the most part, when tasked.

In AOE3, the Woodcutters for the Spanish faction say "Linador, and Linadora, which are the man and female versions of "Woodcutter".

Oddly, the English say "Firmer" when farming, so...don't know what's up with that.
