Lands changing culture over time?

provide your own equipment != have random gear. One way for states to gather coin is to force the soldiers to buy standard gear from them. The soldier still needs to pay for it, and maintain it in good order when not in the field.

it doesn't exclude the case of state being the one responsible for gear. It just don't mean it is the exclusive way.

True, it is also possible that, again, if we want to look at it from a 'realistic' perspective the soldiers would be able to buy standard equipment from their states, which technically they'd own. I suppose this reinforces my point that I'd be able to equip my men with the gear I want, and have them look the same as the rest of my soldiers, be it their own equipment or state funded.

On a sidenote though, I think all of this doesn't really matter, since as far as I know the game won't simulate soldiers buying their own equipment or not regardless. What I'm trying to say is that I don't see why I'd not be able to equip men of different cultures with the same gear as the rest of my men.

Same goes for troop types. I'm sure I can train a Sarranid recruit to use a crossbow as much as I can train a Rhodok to do the same, yet for example we can only train Sarranid men into archers, which kind of bothered me, especially since usually half my force would be made of crossbowmen, and the two things didn't look right to me when put together.

Warband just did the simplest thingy, which made sense for a huge game (number of features) made by a small team. Maybe Bannerlord will revisit this system and add more depth. If not, it still works. And mods can add further variety (new rule-sets).

A example, for Bannerlord, would be to create more than one rule-set. Imperial factions could have a regular gear, a more "barbaric" faction could use gear from others, and so on. But that adds a lot of complexity, so it depends on if they think this would add to the game.

Personally I am a fan of customization for your own troops. I dislike having several types of units in my party (Warband UI is not friendly to manage them). So I would like to be able to convert any of my soldiers to my own custom version. But I won't add weapons that are not part of my faction usual tree (like a crossbow, if they only had archers), just to keep the flavor on battles. It would be even easier to do this if we had the option to use cosmetic gear (without messing with stats gear).

Yeah, I agree. As mentioned previously it's pretty much been confirmed that it will be the same as Warband, but I'll  just live with it, besides I'm sure some mods will at least partially cover that. ^^

This would be quite impossible to implement. Think of all the scenes and the architecture props that would have to be replaced whenever a settlement had its culture changed...

Unless you are fine with lets say the sturgians taking a desert town and nordic soldiers started to show up for recruitment amids middle esatern buildings.

maybe not actually if they do a system were whenever a town/ village is taken the Lord would have to reconstruct the unusuable buildings into the proper faction barracks  and more I can not think of yet

Theres no indication so far that specific buildings constructed on the world map will show up on the town/village scenes. It's extremally unlikely that thy will.

Well if you build a castle attached to a village it'll appear on the world map
