Summary: When you attempt to escort the peasants to the commons of a village and tell the village elder to get over it, the village will attack you. The only way out is to Attack(and declare war if applicable), leave troops behind, or surrender.

Actually this is not a bug and is as intended. If you meet the villagers outside the village, far enough, then you will only need to fight the small group of villagers. If you start the battle to close to the village then you have to fight the small group AND the village militia. Also, if your army is big enough, they will never attack you.
