For lances, i never considered using anything other than weapons specifically named as lances (jousting, double sided, great). But while using the Court Lady, I swapped my gold and equipment for a staff. Turns out it makes a pretty good lance!

And when unhorsed or dismounted, I can still use a decent weapon instead of trying to pick the other guys teeth with an unwieldy lance.

Can other polearms be used likewise? (as lances i mean, not toothpicks...)

Heh you should see my modified Polehammer in effect.

I put it at 34 damage , same speed , and can be wielded on horse as a polearm , it is really effective and not the peice of junk it was befor , Also look's awsome when you shatter people's sheilds with this big chunky hammer

No. Only one-handed polearms can be couched.

The pitchfork makes a very good lance early on, good length and decent damage.

Spears and double sided lance both work pretty well.

Iron staff can be swung which is nice.

Scythe can be couched and swung.

Don't try pikes. Those look cool but can't be couched and are a pain to use on horseback.

Unmodded pole hammers are a waste on horseback, incidentally. All you can do is thrust. I bought one once, thinking I'd have a blast swinging it and playing polo with mountain bandit heads... no such luck

Jousting lance rules

seriously, jousting lance + skill + speed = capture missions are a breeze, and a extra source of income!

and with the help of certian strategies (and Mag7), can also be used to bolster the size of your army (invloves some backstabing, and alot of jousting hehehe)
