I play as a horse archer/lancer. When I kill an enemy rider with couched lance damage his horse usually remains healthy and and my horse often bumps onto it and stops.
So just a part of the second before hitting the enemy I started to press the left button. My horse starts to turn left and the lance spearhead makes a curve tearing the body of the unfortunate victim. And of course the remaining horse is no obstacle anymore.
Later started to do the trick on footmen too. Helps to avoid an enemy swing/thrust too, although it isn't that helpfull as vs riders.
Well, maybe you already know this but I still hope this can be helpfull to someone.
