Eh, seeing as my parents refuse to do **** about it, like getting a qualified computer whiz to check our internet out, I come here to seek advice.


I used to be able to play with ~80 ping on games just dandy. In the last week or two it's been getting ****ing annoying with random laggspikes up to 2000(Wasn't even aware it could go that bloody high...    ) ping in cases. Other than phoning the god awful ISP, is there anything I can do to fix this ****?

I probably should of mentioned my brother is also having lagg issues and he is on his xbox :S


And before you say "lol it's cuz he on it 2 trololol it maek lagg" it worked fine before, so why should it suddenly make it lagg.

Protip - if the computer and Xbox are seeing the same problem, it's not going to be either of those. Could be the router, could be your ISP.

Does porn really take up more bandwidth than other downloads? Something for mythbusters right there

No. Streaming video actually takes very little bandwidth compared to the available bandwidth today. 15 years ago it was a different story.
Torrenting or downloading things in the background will suck you dry (This is the reason Steam stop downloads while games are running).

I stream youtube music and it doesn't affect my ping at all. noticeably.
