Lag.... lag... why so much lag?

Got me an AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core (that's 2.2 GHz folks), 4 gigs of RAM, and dual ATI Radeon HD 4800s.  There is no way this game should be lagging.... none!  So... anyone got tips or useful info on cleaning the game up.  I lag in big battles.... I die.... my guys die.... it's just a huge pile of bull crackers!

I'm playing Warband with the same problem, however after a quick restart of the game, the lag stays away for a while (10-15 battles or so).
I got about the same awesome computer you got, and it should run near-smoothly with 750+ people in a single battle.

hi

last night i started to play warband campaing for the first time, i was playing multiplayer  and before i played mount and blade  for long time, i never had lag problem,

when i had lag i thought it is my pc and then i installed the game my work station windows7 64 bit 12 Gb Ram i7 930, first it was very fast but after a few hours i startet to have lag, and it was not playable any more, and after that i search it on forums and found that warband keep loading everything on RAM and does not empty it, so i guess they will fixit on the next patch, the solution is as you mentioned after several battles quit the game restart the computer if you want and continue,

I don't have to restart my computer. Just restarting the game is sufficient.
But it never hurts to do a full system restart to freshen up the performance
