After some testing, I've determined that the ragdoll / corpse count limit in your video settings plays a large role in the FPS drops experienced in PWMod.
Change the settings down to their lowest, and you should enjoy a much more lag-free experience.

If anyone has found any other settings that help improve FPS, post here.

i play textures 100%, char detail 100%, bodies 0, ragdoll unlimited, resoultion 1280 x 1024, dx9, dynamic lighting, no shadows of any kind, tree detail on lowest on all settings, HDR on low. it gives me a nice 30 fps when looking at the most laggy areas and more fps everywhere else

The FPS is fine for me, it's just he delay of attacking. For example, i click to attack and then 2 seconds after i had already clicked it attacks. It gets very annoying

i think you exagerate this. thats a ping of 2000. im pretty sure the server wuold disconnect you before it gets that bad

I play on lowest with dx7 and only 5 corpses..

The only laggy part for me is the forest where you spawn

I've had up to 2500 ping on native, although it only says 800.

I tried playing on the lowest settings you can get with the lowest resolution. Still can't play it. I wish I had a better computer.

I find a good way of dealing with client-side lag and being able to retain maxed out graphical settings is to just have a good computer  Mod works fine for me

Yeah, Helpful.

My brand new gaming rid still experienced FPS drops when playing PWMOD with maxed graphics, fixed by the ragdoll tweak as i stated.
Don't turn this into a 'GET A BETTER COMPUTER!!11!!1!' fight.

the problem is, the game uses so much damn RAM. the rest of the requirements are pretty low for how good the game looks though.

the best way to decrease lag is to turn off bodies and lower the resolution. textures helps too. just turn everything on as low as possible and enjoy a (hopefully) Game lag free play session. Network lag is another problem....

... char detail 100%...
AFAIK char detail works for distance on wich LOD of NPC in singleplayer and other players in MP starts working. So, when character details set on 0% LOD become active on nearer distance, which is fine for me. So, char detail is pretty useless option (it doesn't has any effect on graphic of your alter ego). My advice to set it on 0%

I run everything maxed out and I have no problems. Dunno what are you talking about

Ok then =].
Install and run PWMod.
Join a game on the default map
Wait about 5-10 minutes.
Go to the edge of the map and pan your mouse around in 360 Degrees.
Then see if you get any lag.

Seriously guys, this thread is not reporting lag, It's a fact. These are tips and tweaks to cut down on it.

In order to cut down on the lag we need an epic CPU, hordes of RAM and the ability to use it all, 4 godlike graphics cards, and a 55 inch led/lcd tv. 3d would be nice too. the thing is, the game still looks like **** compared to most games that requre a hell of a lot less to run.
Mount and Blade needs optimization.
