I would honestly like to see M&B become a more popular game. That would not only increase the flow of ideas to the community, but it would also motivate M&B II Multiplayer (if there is a sequel) and it would also give incentive for making a sequel in the first place. Of course, there are issues with having a really popular indie game become an incredibly popular indie game, like server space and security, having to deal with reporters, etc., but I'm sure Armagan wouldn't mind having these problems if it meant more people were loving his game (and a lot more $$ was rolling in)

Right now, however, there's not very much press coverage (in the larger gaming community) for the game - I checked gamespot and a few other sites to see what they had to say in previews for M&B, and they didn't even have a single hit for a 'mount' & 'blade' & 'mount&blade' search.

Does anybody feel the same? Go ahead and answer the poll above.
I'm wondering anybody knows whether the developers are looking to reach out and see if they can get gamespot (and other gaming news groups) to give them a glance? For that matter, do you guys think that press coverage is something that M&B could use?

well...
I would want it to be become world known and very popular because I think Armagan deserves it but I don't because the more people it attracts the more idiots its likely to attract  but that down point is merely forums based. Voted indifferant though.

Well, the game has gotten coverage on smaller sites - foreign sites, and "underground" or abandonware sites like home of the underdogs. But none of the bigger companies (the ones that really make or break big budget games) are looking at M&B. Granted, M&B is not a big budget game, so Armagan shouldn't have to rely on the greater press if he doesn't want so much attention, but if the case is otherwise, it would be a good idea to think of a way to get in touch with the press and tell them they might want to take a look at a work in development.

Think of all the innovative features the game offers, not to mention a different look at action role-playing in general. I think M&B has a lot to offer the gaming community.

Actually they did get a full page as a preview in PELIT (finlands biggest game magazine), RPGdot (one of the better crpg sites) made a preview of it and one of the major US/UK (Can't remember which, I'm surprisingly less than sober) had a preview and a demo in their magazine.

Of course even more would be fantastic

I think theres to many people who see the not so good graphics and just think it's some dumb indie game and don't want to try it, all they want are big buget games with flashy advertisments, and graphics. Even tho M&B is a GREAT game.

Hahah. It all makes sense to me now. That's why everyone on this thread seems to be from Finland and the surrounding area in Europe.

I go to school in California and I have yet to meet somebody who's heard of this game before I tell them about it. It seems like there's next to no press coverage here.

See how much of a difference press coverage makes ?

Well... the game is being sold right now for $12 bucks. Even though the graphics aren't up to par with half-life 2 (It wouldn't be viable, since there would be SO many very high detail models running around chopping each other up)

And as for your comment about people only playing big budget games - I think we play mostly big budget games because big budget games get the most advertising space. So it only makes sense that they'll dominate the market when the majority of gamers don't want to spend the effort to go searching through the shareware / abandonware /indie gaming community for their next fix.

I'm from nor-cal and I don't know any one else that plays M&B, I found it from this site http://gr.bolt.com/ wich is based in Berkeley, CA.

I found it from a mention on Blues News. The name caught my eye since I like medieval stuff and RPGs and such, so I decided to give it a look. Screenshots on the homepage looked interesting, so I downloaded and tried the demo. And then, I was hooked. Bought it and joined the boards.

Honestly I don't care. I like the game and that is it for me. As long as there are some other people who play it too who I can talk about it with it doesn't matter.

I found a mention of M&B on Roma Victor's forums. Someone there compared the concept of Roma Victor's combat system to this game. Personally, I think this game's combat system is leaps and bounds above anything that any mmorpg is going to accomplish, including Roma Victor.

I say none of the above. Not that I don't want it to get press, but because I want it to sell more copies so Armagan and Ipek can make better profits. I might be able to make flyers to put around my school as ads. Or do some kind of indie viral campaign.

i think this game is getting good coverage but not enought yet, CGW and american computer magazine metioned it brifly but they dont review/preview demos

i found out about the game on the Rovahanion alliace forums for BFME 1, some guy mentioned the game and i checked it out and im adicted since, so is me bro, and me freind, and me friends bro.....this game is so adicting it doesnt need extreme coverage in my opinion, but it does need more than it has

i am currently translating the french review of M&B into English for this site www.dagonslair.com (im one of the official translators for "killpower" a reveiwer for that site)

I found M&B because someone posted on an RTW forum I've been reading. This seems like a good way to get the word out to people who would appreciate it, but it should definately be emphasized that the game is still a work in progress and is not going to support multiplayer.

coverage will be good for the gaming world, as it'll constribute it's art and independant art. also bringing it and the mainstream a little closer to equel exposure. altough i'll wait until later in development.

There are several reasons. Namely, that "TaleWorlds" will become more and more like some of the bigger companies out there.

I think that Armagan will actually 'remember his roots', yet there is always that possibility. Money (especially in large amounts) has a tendancy to cause companies to realize that the faster they create things (regardless of quality) ... the faster they make money. Support for those products can also become an issue.

I personally believe that Armagan will remember his 'community of fans' when TaleWorlds becomes huge so I voted for more exposure.

Taking into consideration that M&B is in beta, it's gotten quite a bit of press. Just reading this forum thread, I've seen that it has been in quite a bit of media outlets, including some of the big ones including PC Gamer and Gamespot, where I saw it. It has also received previews at many of the indie gamer sites as well. Granted, Gamespot isn't doing developer interviews with Armagan et al. And we don't see ads for the game in Game magazines. Both of these things take $$. Mainstream developers spend lots of cash on advertisements and also do a lot with sites like Gamespot to ensure their games get press... does this include $$$ I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

If Armagan wants more coverage of the game, being an indie developer, he's going to have to do a lot more footwork than say Bethesda or Rockstar or others. Perhaps if he contacted RPGplanet to do an interview? (or take a page from Rockstar and make a HotGlaive Mod that unlocks "unintended" content... use your imagination here) What if he submitted more screenshots to Gamespot? Periodically doing so will put M&B on the front page of the site where it can get lots of exposure. Sitting back and waiting for media outlets to come running...well, don't hold your breath.

I want to see more people interested to increase cash to the developers, more mods, and bigger and better updates. As long as taleworlds doesn't sell out on us  , there its aaaallll goooooood
