Our forums: Krenn Roleplay

Krenn Roleplay is a hardcore roleplaying server on the Persistent Kingdoms module. Persistent Kingdoms has recently updated to version 1.3 which will be available to the public very shortly.

Krenn Roleplay is a community that is reaching well into its first year, and after having two interesting scenarios already, we've decided that it's time for a new concept, at least now that Bannerlord launched. As such, Wlodowiec, our founder and owner, came up with an idea to create a dynamic military campaign. The story will be about a war between the Vaegir Tsardom and the Swadian Kingdom for the control of the region of Dhirim.

The Dhirimite Conquest
From Dramug Castle the grand Vaegir army will move to a small Swadian settlement called Haraldsfurt. When arrived in the region the army will have to seize it by defeating the enemies and conquering every settlement. Each region is different, some regions are more fortified, others are easier to conquer but are less profitable to manage. Beware though, the Swadians will soon reorganize and send armies against you: if they defeat the vaegir army, they will march towards Reyvadin, to conquer the enemy capital and defeat the Tsar.
Every noble of the army will have to customize his retinue: based on the characters culture they will have the option to choose a wide range of different troops. Each culture is based on the different regions of the Tsardom and will offer different soldiers. Every soldier will be a player: an event character ticket will be needed to play. This way you will also be able to customize your gear and write a bit about you. It is possible to only have one character at time (unless you want to go play swadian for once, or play a passive character, a local of the region, or a bandit). If your character is KOed during a fight and taken prisoner then the enemies will be able to execute him, if needed. CKs are in fact not restricted by any rules, except for the nobles. There’s no going back from this, and if you try to cheat you will be banned.
How to upgrade? From a stinky levy to a sturdy warrior. It is possible to upgrade your character's gear through every turn, if he survives. If the army manages to win a battle and if the character survives, at the end of the turn he will be upgraded.

Every army is made of:

Infantry:
main bulk of most of the armies, here you will have spearmen, swordsmen, shock troopers and so on

Ranged units: Bowmen and crossbowmen

Cavalry: Light cavalry, melee cavalry, shock cavalry and horse archers

Auxiliaries: Special troops

If you choose one of these branches you won't be able to change it unless your character dies and you’ll have to make one anew.

Every soldier costs! In order to customize a retinue the nobles will have to use their starting budget. Each soldier has a different cost and different skills, therefore the nobles will have to choose wisely! You don't want to choose? You can also go for an already existing noble that already has its name, its culture, its retinue, its fame. ONLY the infantry levies do not face any costs to maintain them. This way every player will be able to have, at least, its small spot in the army. Beware though, levies are cheap, weak and therefore might be killed very easily. Nonetheless, they help increase the size of the host and you can still use them for the most suicidal tasks. Enjoy! If they somehow manage to survive, they will be upgraded!

What are the cultures available?

Curawin Vaegirs:

Frugal warriors from the old capital of the Tsardom, Curaw and its surrounding regions. They hold their land in great pride and believe their city is the best in the world. Their army is the most balanced one, they have sturdy infantrymen, excellent bows and great cavalrymen. All in all, they represent the vaegirs anyone imagine. Beware though, quality has its cost and they are no exception.

Southern Vaegirs, Reyvadinians:

Heavily influenced by their southern swadian neighbours, the Southern Vaegirs that live in, and around the capital - Reyivadin - are the most cultured and wealthy of all the Tsardom. Their cavalry takes direct inspiration from the swadian knights and they also make large use of crossbows! For those who love, and prefer, playing western civilisations.

Taigan Vaegirs:

From Khudan onwards the everlasting snowy plains of the Taiga host some of the most dreadful and fearsome warriors in all Calradia. Proud nomads, skilled in the use of bow, sword and lance, they make the most splendid cavalry of the entire Tsardom even though their savagery is known and feared all across the realm.

Northern Vaegirs:

The Alai Coast and the region of Rivacheg is home to sturdy warriors of the nord and Jumne settlers. Even if far and peripheral, Rivacheg is an important cultural crossroad between Vaegirs and Nords. The Vaegirs living in the region are excellent shocktroopers and heavy infantrymen everyone should be afraid of!

Swadians:

Home of the brave, Swadia prouds itself of being the most powerful and valiant kingdom in the entire continent. The charge of their knights is legendary and makes even the bravest khergit lance tremble; their deeds are known far and wide in Calradia as every knight believes himself to be a paragon of virtue and glory. Their kingdom stretches from the ancient city of Praven to the easternmost city of Dhirim and they can muster excellent infantrymen, good rangers and the best support troops from their allies, the stubborn rhodoks, armed with pikes and large shields.

How does the economy work? How do I maintain my army and how do I recruit new soldiers? If you are a noble you will start with a budget to customize your starting retinue. Every turn you will have to face maintaining costs and you will have to resupply your army with new units. You can use what’s left of your budget, of course, but you will also have a source of income coming from your fiefs in the Tsardom. This kind of income is permanent and you will receive money at the beginning of every turn. In order to gain more money you will have to conquer new regions and you’ll get a share of loot. You can also plunder, raid and invest in the conquered areas by building improvements to get more income, if the fief is assigned to you. For the rest, the economy in game will work exactly like in the other scenarios.
What to do in the game then? This campaign is of course combat-oriented. We want to highlight tactics and strategies the players will have to conquer the region. Skirmishes and fights will be allowed during the day, while biggest battles and assaults will take place in the (EU) evening. Players will have to find out where to attack, when to do it, find secret passages, deal with bandits (or hire them!) and decide what to do with the local villagers. Beware though, the local swadian garrisons won't be harmless and they will try their best to defeat you and to weaken your ranks before the battle. You won't be able to get more reinforcements (except for the levies) during the scenario and therefore every life will matter! New good troops will join you at the beginning of every turn.
Do you want to play a sarranid/geroian/balionese/nordic character? Of course you can, but you’ll have to play as a local commoner. You won't be able to join the vaegir or the swadian armies unless you write a proper ticket.

When i join the server, everything is normal. However, if i hit the join button at the start or hit esc it crashes to desktop.
Try turning off edit mode. Unticking load textures on demand is also known to work.
