I think a few people have suggested features similar to this but I think some attacks should knock people off their feet. Especially charging attacks. At first, it bothered me that horses stop dead when you run into am enemy but it really dose make some sense because a horse wouldn't simply run head first into obstacles, however, if you were to command the hourse to jump right before you hit someone i immagine it would at least knock the man to the ground or trample over him.
I'm not suggesting ragdoll physics or anything like that. I just think that some attacks like charging someone with a lance or hitting someone with a particular weapon should have a chance to knock an aponent down. to elaborate, here is a list of more detailed suggestions.
-Trampleing should only work if you're charging at a full gallop.
-pikes should do extra dammage to a hourse if the pikeman is deffending
a trample.
-when charging, lances should knock people to the ground (depending on
the enemy's armor/strength and the hourse's charge rating)
-If a hourse get's overwhelmed or you botch a trammple attempt the horse should rear back (more than normal) and possibly dump the rider on the ground.
I don't know how hard it would be to make a knock-down animation but there's already an animation for getting up off the ground (when you fall off a horse) so i figure half... well maybe 1/16th of the work is alreay done.
p.s. It turns out that people are already talking about dodging mechanics in the "duck" thread so you can just ignore the "parry" part in the subject headding whilst i go check out that thread.
