Knight Lance so hard to loot? or is it just me?

I'm with level 10 Looting, and 16 NPC Companions.

We went out for Ivory Bow first. It was like 1 per battle vs Ivory Guard scouting troops. After a dozen of battles, I got the Dream Item - Masterwork Ivory Bow.

Now I want a Knight Lance, can't find it anywhere in almost 20 battles vs Crusader scouting troops.

Is it that hard to loot, or I'm killing the wrong opponents?

It is not hard to loot. Swadians and Vaegirs have them - you can fight regular armies with cavalry to get lances.

I do not use them though:
Courser or Charger
Masterwork Ivory Bow (Power Draw 12)
Balanced Knightly Blade (Power strike 10)
2 Large packs of Ivory Arrows.

When you have an army, your role is to coordinate its activity, to command - you should not risk yourself in close combat. 82 arrows is more than enough for regular combat round. To dehorse enemy cavalry is more devastating than kill some soldiers with coached lance. I take two-hander into battle for the epic feel - use it rarely.

I gotta agree they are hard to get with a huge looting skill.  I believe the issue is they aren't very 'valuable' so they don't rise to the top of the loot pile so say a big Dk army will rarely drop them in favour of the more cash-wise valuable stuff.  My best results have been hitting smaller packs like DK caravans, Swadian Crusaders and other specialty groups.

Agree, but not for this specific game / character I started.

The goal of this one is to lead 16 companions to be super heroes of Calradia. I will not lead any bigger army. Instead, I trained them to be Level 40+ professional killers. All we do is attack small enemy troops and loot whatever I want, doing tasks, etc...

There needs to be a way to just be awarded this stuff, I am a Vaegir and I don't want to attack our own Ivory Guard.

Well if you get your relations to the Vaegirs to 50 you might be in for a nice present  from your beloved High Prince

Aw man you get a bow from them?  Knew I shouldn't have bothered with those stupid nords, I could make a new castle out of all the dam axes I've found!

If you want to equip your campanions with Ivory Bows as well, you won't have much of a choice.
You will only get one bow and as far as I know, it's only a normal one, so no masterwork, etc.

Try the Royal Ashwood Longbow. Nice Damage, good accuracy and decent speed. And only 4 power draw required
(but it's rather expensive... ~10.000 Denars IIRC)

Since Power Draw level influence is limited to (Bow Req. + 4), a bow that only requires 4 Power Draw is not good enough for super companions like Achilles and Alyssa.

IMO, second best bow under Masterwork Ivory Bow is Masterwork Teak Khergit Bow. Longbow is always too slow for me.

That's the one I've been using, is pretty decent. :3

Although I left my companions with the rubbishy crossbows they start off with, they still kill people, so meh.

Good decision. Imho it's the best sword in the game.

and the jeweled sword? 63 cutting

Speed and Reach are more important for experienced player. With these you can survive in desperate situations and I need to use melee weapon only in such conditions - Bow is the main weapon.

And with even more experience you can ditch the horsie
I have my ivory longbow from my liege, two large packs of ivory arrows and a long axe (it has pretty decent reach). Apart from that I am clad in heraldic mail (I think it's reinforced), flat topped helmet, mail chauses and leather gloves. This plus my group of elite archers (no nobles or special troops) plus a little bit of hradcore infatry (again, no nobles or special troops) grants me the ability to smite any Swadian army I happen to stumble across.

I have been playing an infantry-only game, no archers either, with interesting results. The Swadians generally advance with a line of skirmishers behind their cavalry and infantry, so you have to play a guerilla-type game, lurking in the valleys and behind hills out of their line of sight, until the enemy advances over the skyline, then Bam!

The Swadian Knights don't have the wit to gallop off out of there, so they are cut to pieces. The second wave of cavalry does come charging rather than cantering, but you can form up just in time. I have a mix of Infantry, Sergeants, 2handed Swordsmen and Champions in oder to reflect a more realistic makeup (rather than having 50 champions for e.g.).

Won't be able to play the Kergits this way though...

Sorry, I meant masterwork, I've never got a masterwork one from them, I just got presents on 2 profiles from them, so I'm wondering, can you get masterwork gifts?
