Random plains should be kicked out they are too random and most of the time give one team a huge advantage over the other team period
Even if someone would pick arena for a map as rhade said there should be some advantage

Rerolls are now up for discussion and should be our main topic. To be honest, I think rerolling until you get a reasonably flat Random Plains (Medium) is plausible to me. Not "weigh our advantages and disadvantages and see if we're okay with this" but "is this reasonably flat (AKA: does one side have hills so big we can refilm The Hills Have Eyes?)". Arena is probably going to be in, but I expect most people will want to pick FBTR, Ruins, or Nord Town as more solid choices as their primary map.
Remember that you picking Arena means your opponent gets to pick the palisade, folks. Things ain't so easy.

Re-rolling maps to get a more open plain and removing ridiculous maps is one thing.
Re-rolling to wait until you get a huge advantage is different.
Regardless, every map you choose is supposed to be to your advantage, anyway, so worst case scenario.. Your map is to your advantage. Allow me to repeat: Worst case scenario, your map is to your advantage -- We've already stated multiple times and have all agreed that on your map, you're usually going to have the advantage, especially with the "good" spawn, etc etc, so I'd argue RP has, at worst, the potential to mimic those "spawn" advantages for the coded maps, and at best, an even, flat plain where skill is the main variable. Sounds great to me.
I say limit the re-rolls to 2 and call it good.

True. A limit on rerolling is important, kind of giving that 'take it or leave it' aspect without any scumming involved. Yeah, totally discussing roguelike terms for a battle tournament. HARDCORE NERD COMING:

I'd say 10 times max is fine. You'll most likely get a good map within the first few anyway. Either way, if you choose random plains, you've already accepted the risk of what comes with it. If you're afraid of getting a disadvantage, don't choose it. If your opponents choose it, there's a chance you'll get an advantage. Re-rolling should be used to get rid of those Mount-Doom-every-5-feet maps.

Krummy's Mom is Hot and Blixn's 'The Swedes' have signed up! I'd like to welcome our first European team. As far as I know, the Swedes should be four hours ahead of EST (five ahead of Central, eight ahead of West Coast), so it's a good idea to take that into account.

Rules are being updated now with Khergits on ban, Arena will be allowed (but doubtlessly unpopular), and rerolls on Random Plains/Steppe Medium limited to three. For the European team(s?), our policy may be to just try and find the most eastern server in the US for them.
