its one thing to state your oppinions against religions...its another to bash them and its even worse to preach against them. Thats nearly as bad as those dam missionarys.
Dont take it too far, people will get offended.
God and Faith can be brilliant things and religion should never be underestimated in its good-doing.
This is coming from a strong athiest.
I share many of the same morals and ideologys as my friends who are strongly religious. We disagree on a few things...but on the main things the only disagreement is to weither god exists.

Exactly. The problem is it's a touchy subject, and it's really easy for people to take it too far. I'm really surprised it took this long for the personal attacks to start.
Some people have proved that they can't carry on a rational debate, and it's time to call a time-out. Maybe the subject can be brought up again in the future when everybody's calmed down, but for now, no more.

In life, not everybody is nicey nicey, hugs & kisses, etc. If they want to have different opinions, let 'em. As long as they don't disrupt posting in this forums or flame each other (obviously Temujin's post was such a horrible breach in Netiquette that the force fields failed and the warp core had to be ejected) let 'em have their differences. Some people just aren't compatible for being friends. No harm in that.

About religions, well, I would like to open a thread when you post about your religion/faith/point of view of the life, to teach us about the faith of other people, and it shouldn't be allowed to criticize the posts. Just to clear something of ignorance.
I have my faith, and I think is right, but, there are more people that don't believe in my faith, and they think they are right. So, in that post you will write about what you believe, not if you think that x guy is wrong, or something like that, if read something that you disagree (of the faith of any) keep it to you. Just read and learn about the faith of others.
What do you think, is a good idea, or better keep to myself and do not say nothing about it again?

I think, for now, that it's a good idea to just leave it alone.

Why? Personally I'd love to see the obnoxious little pimple gone. 
The entire Off Topic forum has become the "let's prove that we're gigantic ASSHOLES" forum. Personally, I'd delete the board. No good has come from it, and it makes Mount and Blade look bad.

Some of the threads are good. I like Image Wars, even though there isn't much point, and there are usualy a few good discussions in the serious threads before it devolves to flaming. I wonder if maybe there could be another forum, 'Meaningful Discussion.' It would be made as a private forum but all members would be automatically added. This is to implement the banning. If a member is obnoxious or makes stupid posts, then there is a vote and said member may be taken off the list. (I don't know any other way to selectivly ban in phpbb.) Thus, people who have something to say can go there, and off-topic remains for the jokes and such. It might be a bit of extra work, but we could have another mod dedicated to the board, since I know that mods are delegated per board in this prog. What do you think Pav, Nair, and (likely) Lamb?

Well, my view is that off-topic is off-topic and that just about anything should be able to be discussed but it never works that way on game sites. This is a commercial venture with a website maintained for that purpose. Anything disruptive to that commerce is not going to go over well. There are few places on the internet where free-speech is really allowed.

I received an angry PM from Temujin a little while ago, but it turned into a good discussion, at the end of which we found quite a bit of agreement and understanding. So threads that begin impulsively are not destined to end badly.
