Kings Stepping Down

So I had this idea that instead of ascending to the throne through betrayal, what if a faction's king would step down from the throne? If for example they thought that you would be a better king, he would offer you to be king instead. It would have to require a renown requirement and your relation would have to be good enough, I think 100 would be good considering that the king is giving up his power. Also, a right to rule requirement. Although, King Harlaus will be expecting you to continue his tradition of calling for feasts frequently and at the strangest times. Opinions?

Yes, I can see it now...
"I, Harlaus, king of the Swadians, hereby step down from my ancestral duty, to this young man who came to our land only 3 months ago.  Now if you excuse me, I have a retirement feast to prepare..."
These guys barely recognize you as a king, even if you had 100 right to rule.

It'd be more along the lines of "I suck at being king. You'd do a better job. I like you and you'll take my fiefs if put in the right situation."

Well I don't mean it would replace that method, but instead of just having 1 method to gain a kingdom (aside from starting a kingdom before even joining one) there would now be 2 methods. You could either rebel against your faction, or try to make your faction leader believe that you were better suited to rule than he was.

I think of more along the lines of, give me the title of king or i'l slit your throat and make it an accident.

Abdication due to old age is no uncommon thing.

There is a cheat for that - if you make a female character and name her "Mary Sue" the kings will do that.
