I started my own kingdom in RoY by taking Meseurus the Bjarndyr capital.

I went to try and recruit some men from my fiefs and I got Player units volunteer to follow you
when I except it takes my money and I get nothing

was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what is going on

Maybe you could talk to the Prophesy of Pendor. After you declare sovereignty you can use a bit o' ye' bad an' ol' diplomacy.
