Kingdom of Sweden Unit and Nation Guide (Now with unit statistics)

I am working on my Cossack and Russian guides now and will write them after I test the patch more.  I am also doing some back testing to see how the new patch changes the old factions I played.  Muskets seem to be much more important now so I'll have to reevaluate my conclusions.

Can someone explain how to get some of these units? The sweden in my game you cannot recruit swedish reiters, swordsman, cuirassers spearmen, nor any of the scottish units.

I personally like a combination of swedish reiters and swordsmen . The reiters soften up the enemy with pistol charges and the swordsmen chop up any remaining units. I don't really see the need of musketeers in this combination..Reiters have sufficient firearms skill anyway .

Thanks for this guide its awesome!

I was tearing apart the Crimean's with just 10 swedish Reiters (veteran)'s and a bunch of other random troops. I wanted to get more and was only getting them by rescuing them from enemy scouts and armies.

After reading this guide I know what will make a better army and how to get more Swedish Reiters. I'm going to get about 50 of them now and wreak havoc on the entire kingdom!

I was dearly missing the Nord Huscarls but now I've met these Swedish Reiters, oh my. <3

where and when can i recruit swedish soldiers?

If you become a merc for hire for the Swedes or a Swedish vassal, you can recruit Swedish units from Castles/Cities.  If you don't do either of these, you'll need to find them as prisoners in other armies and recruit them from there when you win the battle; this way is MUCH harder to get and keep significant numbers of Swedish troops, but it can be done.

Also a side note, if you use more faction troops and especially infantry and muskets, you get much more renown from battles when you win.  Mercs are considered powerful by the Renown calculator in my experience and so therefore you get less of a renown benefit.

Does the game consider the Scottish/German/Finnish troops mercs (They are recruited from castles so maybe not?) or just the mercs you get from a merc camp?

I'm trying to decide if I go Scottish heavy in my troop lineup if it'll hurt my renown gain.

I'm gonna start a new campaign and play "as" Sweden (cause I'm from Sweden ).
Would you be so kind and recommend an army for taking castles/cities?

Surprised to see this post still active! But my recommendation to you is to use melee troops with heavy armor.  The "European" infantry/cavalry mercs are very good once upgraded.  Once you can recruit from towns the Reiters and any type of swordsman are heavily armored and very good at taking castles.  Personally I like the guns the reiters have so I tend to pick them more often (and they do well in the field of course.)
