become lord and recruit them from city's commander

Are those troops who can be drawn within towns better than the mercenaries which are recruited in those mercenary camps?

That is a good question.  The advantage of mercenaries is that you can get many more of them and you can equip them as you please, but they become VERY expensive as they level and gain equipment.  The national troops have much higher stats for fighting, are cheaper, and offer a lot more variety.  I personally prefer national armies once I have my own castle, because I need a place to store my recruits.

That would make sense. When I played wF&S for a while I noticed my money dropped so fast when I substituted my fallen merceneries with new recruits. They all had high-end armor and equipment, of course.

Bump.  Unit Stats are now included with the descriptions.  Hope it helps everyone more.  I will update my other guides within the next couple of days as well.

thx  but i wonder why swedish reiter does have polearm but no athletics. They won't ever pick up a polearm so not worth mentioning but their horse can be taken down. Weapon mastery also not realy needed since it doesn't effect anything directly so could be left out. Still love u

Thanks for the feedback! I will keep it in consideration when I write the next one (and of course some editing of this won will also commence.)

Lovely guides lad

I recommend the Finns to be used along the Scots, the Scottish Pikemen paired with Finnish Harquebusiers can form a deadly wall of steel, making the Scots the first row, making the crouch, and placing the Finns right behind them, and waiting for the enemy to get about 10-5 meters away from you, then volley, and the pikemen will take care of the rest.

can you order to crouch? thought they would do automatically. Also why wait till 10-5 meters to volley while you can already take some out at 50 meters?

The fire will be more devastating at closer range and you will take down a good bit of their charge. Try it against a cavalry heavy opponent. Order your troops to fire at close range then order your pikes forward immediately and the results will be pretty good. This was pretty standard in those days where most infantry units were variations on either the Spanish tercio model or the Swedish reformed pike phalanx. Musketeers would be moving out front to skirmish and then dashing back to allow the pikes to meet the enemy charge.

so i place muskets in front, pikes right behind, let muskets fire and order pikes to advance? too bad strategy wont work for me, my PC is very slow and has problems with registering the orders so it takes about 3 seconds before i can use an order succesfully... too long if enemy's at 10 meters distance

That's about right. You might want to try it at a further distance.

i always place my pikes at bottom of hill, my cavalry at top and muskets somewhere in between and just let enemy come, no special stuff for me, just sheer killing power

Sorry for double post, but if u did the same for other nation or merc, i ll be very happy to read it

When you're done with every faction if that's your plan, will you put em all together in one if it's possible? Cause I really hope any moderator puts a sticky to em

nope, after that he'll start with the merc and will describe all their possible equipment (at least, i realy hope so)

What are you talking about, Will he do it or not? You can't say that's what he gonna do when you're not even sure.

When he's done with every guide, if he want to do them all (no one is forcing him but it would be very good) I hope someone puts a sticky to it. Cause they're totally exellent and I wanna get back there when ever I have questions about each unit.
