Kingdom management: buildings and action

Hi at all,

first of all I hope that my post is understandable ('cause my english is not so good  ).

I'm playing M&B since the start of the 2009 and I think that is one of the most wonderfull and powerfull game ever created: good graphics, good gameplay, excellent modding features. M&B is not a game, M&B is alot of games: with a mod it becomes a star wars game, with another mod it becomes a fantasy-style gdr, with another mod it becomes a western theme game ... epic game!

Ok ok, my suggestion:
make the building system more detailed and more interesting:
- Allow player to construct fief. The position/zone where the player decide to build the fief alow the fief to have different features (eg: if the player choose to construct a fief in a mountaine climb, the prospery will grow slower but here's a chanche to catch a +15% income due to have found a gold vein in the mountain, a steppe terrain reduce the time to construct building but lower the income due to the unfertile terrain etc.). Some map points can allow special features, eg: the fief is build over an ancient castle, this discovery allow player to build in this fief a Knight-Order-Castle allowing the recruit of special unit (the Knights)
- Add new type of structure that can be build in city/town/castle (with the creation of the 3d model into the city too!)
- Define alot of new actions avaiable when a building is built (eg: if I build a Barracks in the menu appears an option "Recruit troops from peasant")
- Create an hierarchical-city-upgrade-tree (eg: the fief start with as a simple field that can be upgraded as a little village that can be upgraded in a village that can be upgraded in a town etc. Each "level" of the fief allow the player to build some building and to reach a new level the player have to reach some target like "100 citizen" or "build a protecting wall" etc.)
- All fief can have a garrison
- Make all fief biesegeable
- Allow minor-faction to besiege (so can happen that a Village is besieged by Forest Bandit)
- Higher fief income
- When the player walk into the fief allow random events (like a robber that steal something from a merchant or a brawl in the tavern etc.). Make the fief "live"!
- Allow merchant caravan from/to your fief.

I think that M&B can offer a special type of game:
- Management: build, upgrade, take gold from fiefs
- Combat: construct your army (with the gold gained from fiefs) and defende your kingdom
- Explore: try to find the best location for you fief or special location that allow to build special builds/units

I think that Prophesy of Pendor mod is at 85% of this idea, but I also think that M&B can have these features in the Native

Welcome to the forums!

Your ideas are very good and many of them can be seen in the "make your own faction" mods such as Sword of Damacloes and Custom Settlements.

Things such as robber attacks do occasionally happen at night when you enter a town/castle/village.  The amount of bandits depends on your renown.  Tavern brawls may have been added to some mods and I'm pretty sure there is a code for it in the Forge if you want to look over there

I would also like some of these features in Native and we can hope that some are included in Warband but I doubt they will all be added because the main focus of the game is combat.

All-in-all a very good first post and I believe you will become a valuable asset to the Forum

Yep, alot of these ideas are quite-implemented in Custom Settlements and other mods (like Prophesy of Pendor), I hope that the simple native-version of M&B will have these ideas too (without any mod)

I think that only combat is very boring in the medium-long period ... When the player reach the elite units in cavalry/infantry/bowmans and wins all of the battles the game become boring ... I think that a management component can make the game less boring and more interesting (Eg.: after 300 game-day of the Native version a normal player close M&B and don't use it again, instead after 300 day of Prophesy of Pendor the player have to research all of the builindings, to kill the army to get Qualis gem to build Knight Orders ...)

All-in-all a very good first post and I believe you will become a valuable asset to the Forum
Thanks, I think M&B it's a perfect game-engine that might become a complete game with adventure, combat, management and will offer alot of hours of fun.

M&B is the best
