I would like to eventually see kingdoms to have the capability top perform covert operations (obviously based in this period style) like spying, assassination, sabotaging buildings, gates or walls and the indirect training, arming and funding of rebels that will be sympathetic to your cause. Maybe you could give them missions, like raiding villages and running away... perhaps ambushing armies and caravans or if they become big enough... to out-right siege a castle or city and declare an independent faction! that would excellent. The best way to conquer an empire, is to divide it first.

There could be an AI in your "capital" city, called the Court Spymaster... and he could organise these options for you, give you a list of the material requirements to get the job done.. and then give you an idea on what are the chances of success or failure. Perhaps if you wanted to scout an enemy city, you could offer 50,000 gold to the spy master to hire spies in each and every city or castle you wish to have spied on, with occasional events, like the spy siphoning income, stealing goods or items for you... perhaps when a spy seeks to return to your court, he kidnaps an official or someone important so that you could ransom them or attempt to turn them to your side.

Since assassination will cause the perma-death of someone.... perhaps it is best at this option be incredibly expensive and have a low success chance if you do not have an Assassin's Guild available to do the actual killing... and even less if you do not have a Thieves Guild to gather the required information of the target.

Lastly, I would love to see guilds as a separate thing, that the player (or AIs) could invest money into within a city (without having to own it). So that those people, who wish to create orders or medieval corporations or perhaps even criminal underworld empires could have access to this, without having to actually conquer a city/castle.

Thieves Guild: This type of guild would revolve around stealing, espionage, information gathering, scouting and buying black-market goods. It could also be a place for people to make contact with the Caldiran underworld... like the Assassin's Guild, Black Market Traders, bounty hunters, smugglers, etc.

Assassin's Guild: This type of guild is where you could train a brotherhood of assassins and send them on missions across Caldira, to do missions for money or reputation with another faction, or maybe if you pay them enough... assassinate a king and cause civil war to erupt in a faction.

Trader's Guild: This type of guild could give you access to better trade information, exotic goods that aren't normally available (perhaps rare armours, weapons, items, materials or food). They might also have a side for Black Market goods and perhaps ties with bandit gangs? Maybe you could pay protection money and be allied with them as part of a contract.

Mercenaries Guild: This type of guild, is where you could gather mercenaries, contracts and found new mercenary bands. We can already offer our selves out as mercenaries, this is true... but what if we wanted to found more? What if we could found Outer Haven in Caldira  An entire corporation, dedicated to mercenaries to take on whatever job, for the right price...and then eventually over-power all of the kings and create a giant mercenary state, founded by mercenaries, for mercenaries!

Slavers Guild: Instead of sending your captured prisoners to the ransom broker for cash... you could give them to your slavers guild, who could rent them out for you, until they die. They might also be used to improve your cities economy (if you own the city). Perhaps you could gain reputation by using the slavers guild to boost production in cities whose factions you wish to improve relations with... or you could just sell them... there are always more slaves to capture. You could also have access to recruit slavers, manhunters and slave infantry that could eventually become battle gladiators!
